thats fine, but didnt express shit. He was given countless chances to explain what he knows about the fighters pay, and he couldnt.

Bullshit, Jardine couldn't say shit because he has a contract AND his camp could get lowballed except for guys who are already main eventers.

Disagree, it's not just the fighter. Their family, staff, supporters, and teammates also stand to receive less as a result. Fighters should be paid more...especially those who can get a limb snapped and be out for a year.

Profit sharing? Stock options? Some employers actually do what you're being sarcastic about.

Yep! Jardine was never paid sh*t in the UFC. His biggest fight against Liddell, he got 14K to Liddell's 500K.:dunno:

Some employers do, but most don't. It isn't an employers job to provide benefits and 401k. If you deserve more, justify it. Boxers don't get it unless they are part of the elite 5%. Hops tried for a union and got laughed out of the joint. Lets not try and play saints here.

Jardine began making bigger purses later. His biggest being 55k against Quinton Jackson who made $325K.
    Despite that, his 14K against Liddell's 500K was the wierdest f*cking sh*t I ever saw.

Val, Godfather is not a shit stirrer. He strongly disagrees with some people (not many from what I've seen actually), but his rep here is rather low-key for the most part. AND I have often disagreed and outright argued with G on various issues. You two clearly have a beef, but he usually get heated ONLY when he thinks he's totally right.

I seen plenty of employees who deserved more. But the companies wouldn't justify it.

VERY knowledgeable and I think he's right on this topic. Unfortuntely he and GF took the wrong road to disagree. I once said I'd like to see Val write a column (or even a post) about how he makes his picks in fights. I can't blame him for not wanting to give away trade secrets though.

Then leave and go where it your talents are more desired. The Free Market always supports the talented.

It does. That's why Hanzy makes a buck or two above minimum wage.

MMA isn't a job, jarhead. It's not a 9 to 5 job. It's a deadly sport where people can end up dead. I don't know what this bullsh*t talk of the job market is coming from. Fighters aren't simply guys punching a clock and doing a "job". Your whole logic is whacked, man!

Yeah, but you never asked me how much bonus money I was making under the table in the "black" market. :crafty:

i wouldn't say what some of the top fighters make aren't a lot compared to your average salary person, but in let's face it, UFC is now a huge attraction and is somewhat of a mainstream sport.

shit, they are more popular than ever and as a boxing fan first, i wouldn't argue that MMA is more popular than boxing at this point.

having said that, if UFC is doing ppv's on a monthly or twice a month basis, the industry itself is making a huge profit.

to me, it seems like UFC fighters make the least money out of all the known athletes. if you ask your everyday joe at work and ask who chuck lidell is, then chances are, he'll know who chuck lidell is. but you turn it around and ask the same guy if he or she knows who brian scalabrine is, then i'm 99 percent sure that he or she won't have a clue. by the way, scalabrine is the only white guy from boston celtics and he makes over $3 million a year while practicing w/ the team and sitting on the bench for the most part of the game.

not sure what WWE wrestlers get paid, but i'm sure the Undertaker's annual earnings make GSP or Anderson Silva's paychecks look like they work at burger king.

Then it sounds like Silva and GSP should have taken up Pro Wrestling.

Or been white and played basketball well.

Who knows, if not for the emergence of MMA thanks to the UFC, Andserson Silva might still be making peanuts to fight in Japan or maybe even just a failed boxer who went back to Brazil to cut sugarcane.

Its not a trade secret. the man just doesnt know what he is talking about when it comes to what the fighters make outside the their fight salary.

wow, so anderson silva should thank the sport of MMA for his existence? :atu:

all i'm saying is that for being poster boys for UFC and reknown celebs, guys that i've mentioned are making peanuts compared to other famous athletes.

christ, just look at mayweather's purse in one fight. that's more than the sum of what every fighter makes in one PPV card

in all honesty, is mayweather really that much more famous than chuck lidell?

Is english your second language? If not for the emergence of the UFC, do you think Silva would have found the same degree of financial success in sports?

Simple question. Can't wait to see you NOT answer it.

So fame determines how much someone should be paid?

Of course not. Which proves Mayweather is ridiculously overpaid.

How is he overpaid when everyone involved in the promotion is making money when he fights ( at least now, it wasn,t the case earlier in his career ) ???? I think that any athletes, celebrities, or CEO and big shareholders of big compagny for that matters makes way too much money, but in the UFC, it's White and the Fertittas who are way overpaid instead of the fighters. But if there's 1million+ idiots willing to pay 50$ for PBF-JMM, you can't say that PBF is overpaid, it we are thinking in a way of market economy. That's why I feel piracy's the way to go

  25. Hanz

Not the same degree of success but success nonetheless.

  26. joony

    joony "Twinkle Toes" McJack

    fuck you.

if not for the emergence of the UFC, then who knows what Silva would or could've done, but that doesn't justify the fact that UFC fighters are getting paid in peanuts.

  27. joony

    joony "Twinkle Toes" McJack

that's how it works. mostly in sports, you have to be pretty damn good to achieve fame and success.

    are you that simple minded?

  28. Hanz

    Hanz Roberto Duran

Somebody like LeBron James or Roger Federer make more money in their respective sports than their fellow athletes for a reason. Because they are better than the majority of their fellow athletes in their respective sports.
Because of their FAME, they make millions and millions.

  29. Hanz

    Hanz Roberto Duran

I hate Fraudweather but if millions of people are buying his sh*t, he should make a bigger cut of that revenue than anybody else since he's putting his faggoty ass on the line.

Again, your comprehension is nill. I didn't ask IF fame affects pay scale. I asked if fame SHOULD determine what someone makes.

Damn, my wall responds with more sense.
