To move to heavyweight. He was supposed to get paid 25k to fight Godfrey for the IBF cruiserweight title. He can probably get ten times that for sticking his jab into fatty´s face for 12 rounds. That´s not even work for Cunningham. Just roadwork in cycles.
I don't know...I used to think that this kind of thing was healthy, the question is, do we want to recreate the glorious days when smaller men like Moorer and Holyfield did battle with Grandad George? It might not happen, you know, we might be forced to endure much more competitive fights....
He should move up, I agree. I think Steve can certainly hold his own with most heavies out there, and beat many of them. He has the style to give these guys fits.
I think he should fight at heavyweight. These guys are 6'2-6'3 and weight about 220 lbs when they don't have to drop weight for the scale, which means the are full-sized heavyweights anyway. And since there certainly is room behind the very top, it makes no sense fighting at cruiser, unless you want to win a title belt more easily
Another improvement on the Halcyon Days of the mid 1990's, where the division could only manage one former Cruiser and one former Light-Heavyweight. I mean, OK, Haye, Adamek and Cunningham would struggle with Mickey Walker, but it is the best we can do in these lean times.
