He was busy getting footwork lessons from David Tua and Rocky Juarez.

Look at that, even he is bored by the mention of his own name.

Angulo is far from boring to watch though. He'll never be elite, but he has the potential to make for exciting fights if matched correctly.

Oh I don't disagree, much like Gatti, he has the potential to look in the mirror and find himself in an up-and-down thriller. He just needs to be matched against people of a similar mindset. Good for him that 154 is hardly stellar now...between you and me...he beats Cotto. Cotto is gunshy and a bit damaged.

154 isnt that bad. You have Williams, and Martinez as the top guys... who Angulo has no prayer against. Foreman as boring a fucker as he is, would outbox Angulo. Cintron already beat him. Lara in a few more fights will be ready to beat Angulo also.

And Cotto would have to REALLY shot to lose to Angulo.

Miguelito showed signs of it vs Jennings. Jennings would land the right and Cotto would freeze...imperceptibly almost, but he would freeze nonetheless.

No way Cotto loses to Angulo, unless the Pac beating has literally ruined him. I thought Cotto looked fine against Jennings and Clottey.

Angulo simply isn't good enough to beat the likes of Cotto, let alone big 154 pounders like Martinez and Tall Paul.

Martinez is the MW Champ now.......and Tall Paul is a bad styles match...but I think Cotto is badly damaged...I definitely saw signs of it vs Jennings....Miguel would get hit by the right and then take time out to wait for Jennings to run away...then he would plod after Jennings.....

Irish I might slowly be seeing your point about Cotto-Angulo. In the first 5 rounds of Angulo-Julio I was saying to myself "Man Cotto would kill this cat" but the way Angulo just keeps coming at all times, and keeps maintaining his power makes me wonder. Miguel has always been a sucker for right hands, similar to the way Vargas was always a sucker for left hooks. If Angulo catches him with type of right hand that KO'd Julio, Cotto would be in queersville.

Still... the gap in skill and speed between Cotto and Angulo is WIDE. But if Angulo could handle Cotto's punches and back Cotto up, he'd have a real chance.

Yeah, with Angulo being 5'10", the naturally bigger man at 154lbs, and with the semblance of an amateur career behind him.....it's not like he is totally incapable of walking Miguelito down. Let's face it...if Pottey Clottey moved his hands for just 2 more rounds, he could have beaten Miguel, and that knockdown was as lucky as they come, he basically caught him off balance with the jab.

Cotto for his part has a lot of hard fights behind him, and I am not convinced that Manny Steward can do a whole load with the guy, other than give him conflicting instructions and fuck his life up even more.

I would watch this space...there could be money in it.

Yup I dont think Steward will help him either. Manny is THE most overrated trainer in history! In ALL the fighters he's ever trained... he's really only had three successes.... Hearns, Lewis, and Wlad. Really only Lewis, and Wlad count as turn arounds, because he developed Hearns from the start.

Cotto doesnt have the height, and range to turn it around like Lewis, and Wlad did. And it goes w/o saying that he's no Hearns. I dont see what Manny's gonna do for him. Have him use his jab more? His arms are short, and stubby, and he's only 5'7. It has disaster written all over it.

I dunno. Angulo has lead feet. Foreman might be able to dance around him all night. Joel Julio has never been a mobile guy. I'd give Angulo a chance though.

The WORST matchup for Angulo I think we all can agree would be Martinez. Sergio would literally toy with him, and bust his face up badly.

I doubt Angulo's people seek out that fight.

Angulo would only win rounds if Martinez decided to take them off and just dance around showboating.

The difference in this fight would be how durable Angulo is. Cotto is only as durable as his heart will allow and isn't as physically durable as a guy like Shane or Margarito. I can't see Angulo being quite as durable as Margarito even if he is your typical granite chinned Mexican. I think Cotto would beat him but would have to see how Cotto fares against Foreman to be sure.

Margarito's apparent durability, in my opinion, was largely due to the stamina he was able to preserve by relying on loaded gloves.

Without them, we saw him get knocked out easily by Mosley.

I actually thought he looked like shit. That was the worst jab I think I've ever seen in my life. Not only was there absolutely nothing on it at all, but he was leaving it out there forever. He also looked listless and a bit sloppy at times. I actually think Cintron would have beaten him again that night.

There could be 3 possibilities of why he looked so bad. He didn't train properly, he was weight drained, or he overtrained. I'm going to assume it was a weight issue going by what the announcers said.
