...from HBO's Legendary Nights series? Leaving aside historical significance, pre-fight build-up, etc, & just going on the strength of a fight's ability to entertain & enthrall, my vote would go to Pryor-Arguello I. Thoughts?
that was a good heated fight, but nothing like chavez-taylor. plus, if it wasn't for the post fight melee, it would've had much less significance. i thought holmes-cooney one was the most interesting of them all in terms of documentary content.
:crafty: I was entertained by HBO's attempts to make out that Golota could only outjab Bowe because Bowe was fond of burgers....ld:ld:
Though the doco was actually about the first fight, Bowe-Golota II was a hugely entertaining affair, much better for excitement than the first fight --- which wasn't bad, either.
for the level of skill of the combatants and for the epic nature of their fight, Pryor-Arguello Chavez/Taylor was probably the most dramatic
i guess i'm in the minority who thinks pryor-arguello isn't all that great. for the most part, i thought it was a one-sided beatdown w/ a pretty brutal ending. chavez-taylor was a much better and more dramatic fight in my opinion. in fact, it was one of the best fights i've ever seen.
Really? It's not that hard to argue the other way around. By the time Julio got "into" the fight Taylor had already won it on the cards. (if it had gone there obviously)
arguello landed some flush shots that failed to drop the usually hyper and reckless guy in pryor. that pretty said it all. arguello had great precision, but lacked the power to inflict any serious damage at 140. i thought pryor whupped his ass for the most part and that knockout was waiting to happen (credit to his 'mixed drink' or not)
No argument there. It's dramatic watching it recorded. I can't imagine what it was like for those watching it live.
well the knockout was imminent towards the end, but i meant to say that arguello pretty much had very little chance of winning after the first few rounds.
