I'm not sure if anyone else feels this way, but I think this whole thing is kind of silly. It all feels like a certain Pepsi commercial from a few years ago. Seeing these grown men in actor's chairs behind-the-scenes in the get-up, as well, detracts from the intended drama of it.

However, people seem to like it, for the most part, & you have to give the people what they want.

    :bears:

I love Ramone, such a noble and classic boxing fan.

By the way, something a little disconcerting - skip to 6:40 in the video, Shane looks all fucking scrawny.

He usually looks MUCH beefier in the chest/shoulder area, he looks downright scrawny there, has he suddenly got old man body or what?

They have the general public fooled into think Floyd wants to come out for war.

Then the bell rings, and the casual fans will be pissed that Floyd will be playing chess.

I know, I'm not sure why they bother, it just leads to disappointment. I guess they don't care though, just try to up the PPV sales and hope the casual fan forgets by the next Floyd fight

Don't you remember in the Floyd Vs Oscar fight, Floyd kept banging on about it being a toe to toe battle? Hahaha, I wonder how many casual fans actually believed that. I'm surprised Floyd doesn't feel ashamed though, seriously, just blatantly lying to millions of people. At least be honest, and say you're going to outbox him/school him etc.

    You haven't analyzed the styles

Shane, by virtue of his size, speed and aggression, will force Floyd into a fight. There is no way Floyd can fight a boring fight against Shane.

That's exactly what he'll do. He'll potshot and win a boring decision, doing everything he can to avoid engaging Mosley.

We've already got a sig bet, it's whether or not Floyd stops Mosley. Which of course, is far less subjective than how exciting a fight is.

The word "gladiator" and the name "Mayweather" should never be uttered in the same breath.

Yet he keeps selling and keeps becoming more and more of a superstar. Maybe the general public don't pay enough attention to notice the incongruity or don't care.

LOL @ the director praising Shane's swordmanship as if he's reading it off a card Oscar's holding up for him behind camera. Cool video though, enjoyed it.

Well, it's not that I don't appreciate what they're trying to convey, dressing the lads up. I just think if they want to portray drama & a sense of epic combat, it could be done in a slightly more down-to-Earth way, without detracting from the whole thing. It would also carry more weight with me if they went the Gladiator route only for fights & fighters fully-expected to lay it all on the line with no regard for their health (like a Castillo-Corrales, or Vazquez-Marquez scenario), as opposed to this type of bout. I would have chuckled at this kind of theme in a pre-fight show, for instance, back when Leonard & Benitez were lining one another up.

Give me a good old-fashioned montage of the men at hand, set to the right music, anyday. Simple, to the point, & not prone to being over-wrought

 It was Mayweather's idea. If he can't play one in real life....

Can you believe Shane downplayed Floyd's trash talking by actually saying his wife Jin used to say worse stuff to him? What good does it do for him to reveal that? Not only does it make him look even more like he was pussywhipped, but he just gave Floyd even more ammo to diss him with.

Perhaps you don't know what a Gladiator was. They were fighters who dismantled their opponents with skill. As long as a Gladiator was alive, he was undefeated.

Sounds like Floyd to me. :kidcool:

I dunno man. I watched a lot of gladiator movies and I don't recall too many of them running circles in the arena and pot shotting the other guy.
