john ruiz was a disgrace to boxing. best moment of his career was when he was knocked unconscious in 20 seconds by david tua

I like the way he wisely dropped weight to match the speed of Roy Jones.

Even in hindsight i don't understand how that strategy backfired.

Ref was in Roy's back pocket

It was 19 seconds. Get your facts straight and plus Johnny was very green back then. Stoppage was also premature. Truth be told Johnny for the next 14 years chased Tua for a rematch and Tua wanted none of it.

Ref telling Ruiz "this is getting ridiculous" during the Oquendo fight

Ref telling Ruiz "you are gonna hurt yourself like that" during the Golota fight after Ruiz had again jumped to hug Golota from his beltline.

Two moments that tell the whole story

i knew some insufferable douche would try and point out "nuh-uh it was 19 seconds not 20 seconds." fucking nerd

good riddance to ruiz, he brought shame to boxing

I think it was the Golota fight I took 2 rounds out of to count clinches versus the punches landed. More clinches in both rounds. That'll be my abiding memory I think.

The best Ruiz moments, besides Tua, involve Norman Stone. The guy is hilarious.

"Fight this motherfucker! Fight him! The referee sucks! Fight this motherfucker!"

"What a piece of shit you turned out to be! What a fucking piece of shit! You got no balls you cocksucker!"

The Golota fight was a fun little foul-fest. It was also hilarious how after Stone kicked out and was in the locker room, talking about the ref, and he says "I never said nothing to him!"

When the Sperm John Ruiz, somehow, incredibly beat all the other sperm into his mothers egg. There must have been some slow non-motile mothers in his dads basket.

If you are trolling, please stop.

If you are actually serious...please stop...cancel your fourm account and go away.

Ruiz sucked. He was a disgrace and now that he is retired, boxing has become a much better place.

    Favorite moments..

    1. Watching him getting blown away by Tua.
    2. Watching him celebrate after receiving a draw against Holyfield in a fight he clearly lost...showing how lame he really is.
    3. As a so-called heavyweight "champion", getting embarrassed not once, but twice by former middleweight champs.

Who has evidence of his career though?

If i go through all my boxing vids the only one i'm likely to find is the RJJ fight.

"hugging" was a strategic game plan Johnny used to beat some of the greatest fighters ever. I didn't see Johnny being DQ for "hugging" so he wasn't breaking the rules so it was very clever on his part.

Sure if you say so he hugged holyfield so much he should be receiving child support checks. He is the Care Bear noone talks about.

Another one of my favorite Ruiz moments was when he complained about Valuev's holding.

Even Mayweather would have been proud of that double talk.

Valuev should have hit him with the pot AND the kettle after that one.

Ruiz was a real man, who, no matter how beat up he was, alway's tried to win ( save maybe for the RJJ fight ). No wonder the little bitches in here talk shit about him, they wouldn't be fit to carry his jockstrap in boxing or in real life.

my 2 favorites Ruiz moments are :

1- When in the second Holy fight, with his face looking like a mess, nose broken and having took a some vicious shot, he delivered big time, after his corner gave him an earfull between before the 11th, with his 11th round carnage on Holyfield to win the title.

2 - The way he never quit, in the twilight of his career, vs Haye after taking a frightfull beating. One of the gutsiest performance I ever saw
