I've heard it said that Winky is too big for Floyd. Well vargas is Winky's size and stronger and more powerful. Vargas also beat Winky (whether you think so or not..close fight either way) . so how does Floyd fare against this BIG STRONG Vargas?

Floyd by runaway unanimous decision. Too easy.

Floyd wouldn't fight Fernando even in a mythical matchup.

A pre-plastered Vargas would overwhelm and stop PBF. Vargas once upon a time was a vicious finisher with a good chin.

Nando on points. Vargas wasn't a sloth on his feet or some crude banger.

    He's too much for Floyd @ 154.

Um....it'd be very close I think. Might go either way, though I'd lean towards Floyd getting the nod.

it'd never happen.. Vargas is too big

    but.. if it did?

    Floyd dominates him completely

Dominate him in the same fashion he did the much smaller Castillo?

Well if it wasn't good before he was criminally assaulted by Trinidad, it was much worse afterwards.

Vargas' mauling, bruising tactics & ability to utilise his size effectively carry him to a razor-thin SD over Mayweather's success in moving him about the ring & making him miss. I think the last two rounds may've decided it, as Mayweather looks a little flustered dealing with Vargas' aggression & neutralising the bigger man's assault.

Very, very close. Both men would have their success. I'm going for a one-point win for Vargas. Two, at most.

Or the 'game', i dont know that either.

I do know Floyd has done NOTHING above 135lb to suggest he's better than Winky Wright or Ike Quartey @154

Who did Ike Quartey beat at 154lbs that was as Good as teh Oscar that Floyd fought?

In Mayweather's favour would be Vargas' prime ended while he was still fairly-inexperienced --- at least in terms of the number of fights he had. That said, he matured rapidly, & proved himself to be a deserved star-on-the-rise. History's forgotten just how respected he was, but, at that point, he would've given Mayweather all he could handle, IMO.

He went tooth and nail with a 9 years younger version of Oscar than Floyd fought 14 months before. That incidentally is two months less inactivity than Shane will have before fighting Floyd and 2 months more inactivity than the aforementioned 9 years older version of Oscar Floyd fought.

If the 31 year old version of Quartey Vargas beat was an inferior fighter to the 34 year old version of Oscar Floyd beat it's clearly not by a huge margin.

Vargas would be charged with murder. Besides, Fraudweather would not even consider a fight with Vargas at 154. As a matter of fact, Fraud would not even contemplate the possibility of meeting Vargas at any weight when Vargas was in his prime.

You can't pick PBF in this one if you are intellectually honest.
He simply has done nothing to date above 135 to suggest that he could hang, especially when you consider the difficulty he had with Castillo.
He hasn't even fought a top WW yet.
A SD against a wayyy past prime & inactive for 18months DLH is not enough to convince I'm afraid.

You can't pick Vargas in this one if you know boxing...

Vargas, even in prime, had mediocre handspeed and wasn't particularly elusive and although having a strong punch, wasn't really dangerously powerful. He was also a conventional fighter with no unpredictability. IN addition to this he was only 2 inches taller than Floyd and had a similar reach.

Floyd would merely outpeed and outslick him. Vargas can't beat what he can't hit. Floyd would outland him 2 to 1.

Vargas' size advantage would be irrelevant because of teh nature of the fight.

What like a 3 divisions bigger version of Castillo, you mean? Vargas was a bullying type of fighter at his best who knew how to use his size. He'd be a serious problem for Floyd, just like he was for Quartey and Wright.

Castillo had better workrate than Vargas (Exhibit A: Castillo-Corrales 1)...and had basically a completely different style. Besides an injury free Floyd pretty much dominated him in the rematch anyway.

Again...Pacquiao struggled with Marquez but wiped the floor with the much bigger cotto. It's not just about size.

Vargas is too slow and predictable for Floyd. His size advantage would be the only thing preventing it from being a shut out.

Floyd's speed would give Vargas problems, but I see Nando mauling him late and taking a decision.
