I keep hearing that he ducked so and so and so on and so forth. What is the criteria for a "duck"? What criteria can we all agree upon and be consistent with all fighters in history in this regard? (yes...I have an agenda...so what?)
Ducking is a word used as a last ditch effort to try and bring a fighter's greatness down. Used when the masses strongly hate a fighter that is undefeated and pound for pound best and will never lose and his nickname rhymes with Honey.
Nope. It's when you chicken sh*t your way out of fighting viable challengers while handpicking guys who have little chance against you.
Uh huh.....the term 'ducking' was invented to denigrate Floyd. Uh huh. Personally I dont think Floyd has ducked anyone. He just loves the smell of his own farts so much he thinks it doesn't matter who he fights, we should all just take a deep breath with him.
:: Sure Sly, I'll do that for you. Actually, f*ck that! I'll just let this video do the talking. <object width="640" height="505"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/KGdJZsWEE5Q&hl=en_US&fs=1&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/KGdJZsWEE5Q&hl=en_US&fs=1&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="505"></embed></object>
Here's how I look at ducking. If you continually proclaim yourself one of the best, you damn sure better be going out of your way to prove it. Mosley, Cotto, ODLH, Pacquiao are all a few names that come to mind when I think of guys trying to prove themselves. At the same time none of those guys bragged about their greatness in the same way guys like Hamed, RJJ & Floyd did. Guys whom I've criticised for not going out of their way to prove themselves. I was critical of all 3 of those guys at one point or another. Only Roy kind of had an excuse where his division didn't exactly have a lot of big challengers. Think about this: Most great fighters have that career defining victory where they beat one of their big rivals. Who was Floyds? Coralles? I hope not because Coralles isn't a great fighter by any stretch of the imagination, and in fact went on to prove himself to be a very flawed fighter. No Floyd's career defining fight should have been Pacquiao, but Floyd once again made sure it didn't happen.
