He has now FORMALLY threatened to pull out of the Super 6 unless his next fight, with Arthur Abraham, is held in England, pursuant to what he claims is a pre-existing agreement for same.

Frochs very words are that he will pull out and "Make a mockery of the Super 6"

"It has already been agreed that I would fight at home, fight away and fight back at home. It has been agreed with Ken Hershman at Showtime [Super Six organisers]," said Froch, who won his first fight in the tournament against American Andre Dirrell in Nottingham in October.
"So my fight with Abraham is in England or the fight is not happening and will make a mockery of the tournament. It's as simple as that.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/boxing/8644660.stm

Sauerland Promotions, who promote AA, have released this statement.....

"Contrary to what Mick Hennessy [Froch's English promoter] stated after the fight on Saturday, there is no agreement - neither written nor verbal - about the fight venue," said Sauerland.
"The tournament contracts imply that the Abraham-Froch fight should take place on European territory or wherever it makes the most commercial sense for everyone involved.
"I would prefer it to be on neutral territory."

Carl knows if he loses his next fight it is CURTAINS for him.

I think he is milking the "Never Fight In Germany" angle for all it is worth, even though he has himself been the benefactor of a very generous decision in his last hometown fight.

He is being a bitch. I don't think he'll carry through with his threat cos he'd be burning bridges, and money, in the process. He needs to grow up, and get real quite frankly. Hopefully, give it a week or two, a lot of the post-fight emotion would have lifted somewhat, and maybe then he'll see some sense.

We'll eventually get to see what really matters more to Froch and Abraham....hometown advantage, or money. If they want to do it somewhere neutral, it'll have to be the States...in which case neither guy will make a lot of money because they won't be able to draw....they'd wind up on a Ward/Dirrell/Green show, which for us fans would be pretty cool.

Yep. I agree with the two above posts. It's a question of emotive behaviour and it's a question of him being backed into a corner. It is not like there is a shortage of people to take his place, and, when you get down to it, he went to America to fight Taylor. He will have to go to Germany.

It makes you wonder what's in the contracts. Verbally Abraham was probably told the same thing.

Froch has to remember that Abraham also just fought one at home and one away. They both have the same record in the tournament as well.

Why should AA be the one to fight on visitor's soil?

Neutral ground it shall be. Meet halfway. Amsterdam sounds fine to me. I have no interest to go to Berlin again. How is Nottingham?

I was wondering about that as well.

Outside of Germany and the UK is there any other venue in Europe that both camps would agree is neutral, and also bring in the same amount of revenue for all involved?

The thing is, it won't just be about location, but promotion also. That's why it wouldn't surprise me if it ends up in the states on one of the other cards.

That I very much doubt. They´d like to have it in easy travel distance for both fighters fans, preferably a country that doesn´t see much boxing to attract some neutral observers. Netherlands or Belgium seem like the most likely places.

Sounds like boxing fans are in for another treat in the upcoming months.

Can both promoters make as much money?

If the contract doesn't promise Froch a fight at home i doubt Sauerland moves from their position.

Well it comes down to Froch's idea of neutrality. If Saureland are promoting the event in holland, is it all that different?.... I think, ultimately money talks....the guy giving up home advantage will want a bigger slice of the financial pie.

If Slice and Dice's party this saturday turns out well they can stage the fight at his place.

I don´t know, it has been 70 years, since we last owned that place. :crafty:

I´m sure they´ll come to some sort of agreement, since both fighters can advance even with a loss, but I´m pretty sure the fight stays in Europe.

What about Wales?.....you'd get bus loads of Froch fans from Nottingham....plus the other half of the stadium will be full of Calzaghe fans, baying for Froch's blood. That seems fair.

actually, why is it that boxing is so irrelevant in netherlands yet kickboxing is so popular over there?

i see that a lot of the K-1 guys are mostly dutch based.

i wonder what other sports are big in holland besides soccer.

Wont matter where its held. Just find a ref that count to 10, and some good medics who can attend to Froch.

We don,t know what was in the contract. If Froch signed a contract saying the Abraham fight would be in England he has all the right in the world for it to be so. If not, then yes, he's being a bitch

yeah, sure, Froch's a bitch because he dared to be great ( when he was already a world champion, he fought Taylor in the US, entered the Super six ) while Bute, who refused to enter the Super Six because it made more sense for him to bid his time ( quote from his own camp ), is a warrior :notallthere::notallthere:

Exactly, Bute is real happy to milk his paper title. He refused twice to enter the Super Six, fuck him and HBO for supporting this masquerade.
