We had the thread where we answered what a loss would do for Mayweathers career

What about Mosley at age 38?

    At Welter he'd have

    Wins over:

    Prime De La Hoya
    Prime Floyd
    Margarito

    Losses:
    Forrest 2X
    Cotto

Definately best welter of this era if he pulls it off.

How is a 33 year old Floyd in his 4th division having fought 1 time in the last 3 years "prime Mayweather"? Kinds of remind me the Roy haters claiming RJJ was still prime when Tarver beat him just because he hadn't lost in a long time.

Roy wasn't in his prime but he wasn't shot either. Same goes for Tarver who was even older than Roy at the time.

Assuming the manner of victory is clear, it promotes him from future hall of famer to first ballot.

What the hell is with your fuzzy math? This will be his 4th fight in 3 years.

I would disagree with that. IMO, first-ballot isn't even something which should realistically exist right now, because Boxing is literally clogged with dozens upon dozens of truly deserving fighters, many of whom have been waiting decades. Some will probably wait forever.

At any rate, it's an interesting equation. I tend to put less stock in one big victory in a career than a lot of people do today. I'm more interested in the full career, & Mosley besting Mayweather wouldn't erase his spotty record over the last seven or eight years (albeit, mostly against capable opposition). I'm not sure I have a definitive answer...perhaps because I haven't given a whole lot of initial thought as to where Mosley might rank in Welter history.

Where do you folkes have him? Top-25? Top-30? Higher? Lower?
