In a fight like this I wouldn't care if the undercard consisted of fights between forum members. It's all about teh main event.
Well, Saul Alvarez hasn't fought anyone. And Jose Cotto has never fought anyone above 140. I'm surprised G doesn't buy boxrec, and then fabricate its fighters' records, the way it does their rankings.
What's a real boxing fan? A man who's more interested in the undercard just because a fighter he hates is in the main event?
hell dude fucking Arum used to put on decent undercards... we might have complained about them a bit at the time but looking back compared to this garbage its insane DLH-Ike had Oba Carr v Frankie Randall, Eric Morales v Angel Chacon, Mia St John and Butterbean. Now that is still pretty lame, but its a million times better than this fuckin shit DLH-MAGOO Tszyu-Mas Pastrana-Carbajal early Mayweather and Santos fights i mean fuck a duck what is this crap
This mentality is part of the problem. One of the things wrong with boxing, they can just take advantage of the suckers who just care about the main event boxing nights used to be great, with an awesome main event and stellar 1-2 more championship calibre fights on the undercard, a matchup between contenders, and a couple up and comers to peak at as they are coming up the ranks
Who said anyone was "more" interested in the undercard? A real boxing fan is someone who appreciates a good undercard. You've admitted you don't care one way or the other, which says to me, if it were a good undercard, you'd be no more excited.
Fair enough, I concede. I guess I was reacting to the usual Double L agenda which is to act as though teh main event is of little importance and so spend time talking abou tteh undercard. This is an important fight. But yes....a good undercard is something that I'd apprecate.
I wouldn't blame G. This has been the norm for PPV for a very long time now regardless of who the promoter is.
as far as the undercard I'm only interested in Canelo Alvarez. He should destroy Cotto's brother but I'm interested in seeing where he's carreer will go. He hasn't fought anybody yet with a record of 34-0 but he is still only 19 years old.
Just remember who was on the undercard of the Ray Leonard/Benitez world title fight!........ Freaking Hagler/Antuofermo... Now that's an undercard!
I watched the entire weigh in and I'm trying to figure out why the hell is J. Cotto weighing in at 149 pounds????? He looked soft. WTF was his training camp thinking????
The promoters don't realize that they are screwing themselves along with the fans. 800,000 people will be buying this PPV. It would have been great exposure for their better fighters that aren't ready for PPV headlining status. The guys they are putting on aren't even ready for ESPN FNF headlining status.
I remember that.....Morales took the guy out in style. He feinted a body shot and took it upstairs instead to the guys head in the form of an uppercut. Chacon was down and in a bad way.
Same here. I'm actually surprised they are putting this altogether on one card. This is practically 3 main events for the price of one.
Gomez-Pintor was on the undercard of Hearns-Benitez. Duran-Palomino on the undercard of Holmes-Weaver. McCellan-Jackson 1 on the undercard of Lewis-Tucker. Brown-Blocker on the undercard on Tyson-Ruddock 1. Fenech-Nelson 1 on the undercard of Tyson-Ruddock 2. My god do undercards suck nowadays.
I know, you have to give credit where it's due, they've gone all out for this card. Even if/when the main event turns out to be boring, we've got an absolutely blazing undercard to make up for it.
Yep, too bad the main event was a joke. Bowe was defending his title vs. The Cinderella Challenger, Jesse Ferguson.
