Shane's security guy...

I know you guys saw the previous episode of 24/7. They talked about how Floyd has a security crew of 7 big dudes.

The narrator went on to talk about Shane's security detail and how it only consisted of one guy. That guy goes by the name of "Elliot Ness"

I grew up in the Bronx and had gone to the Times Square Gym back in '90. I was 18 years old then, but "Ness" as I had known him back then, was every bit as badass as they made him out to be.

I got to know him and even had a chance to hang out with him a few times. He used to be an amateur middleweight back in the day and had already been done with his amateur days when I met him. I used to b.s. with him, you know, talking shit, going back and forth.

Anyway, he used to be a bodyguard for Aaron "Superman" Davis. I remember telling Ness how Davis was whack and how he was about to get his ass kicked by Mark Breland, who he was scheduled to fight that July.

As it turned out, one day I was getting dressed for a workout, Ness had asked me to come over there. When I came over, Aaron Davis was right there! He told me to tell Aaron what I had been telling him for weeks..... After a little prodding, I told Davis that I thought Breland was going to knock him out. He said he respected my opinion and how it motivated him even more. As you boxing fans may know, the rest is history.

Davis knocked Breland out and bought the belt to the gym a few weeks later and let me touch it.

Back to Ness. One day we were on 42nd-43rd street and Avenues of the Americas (6th ave.), and some dudes were playing 3 card monty. There was a big ass crowd out, we had just left the gym. Ness said that he wanted to make some money, so he put his $20 up. The dude played him and Ness asked for his money back. The dude said "you better take your ass on if you don't have anymore money to play with". Ness went for the dude, the guy's boys came out and Ness started flipping. It ended up with the guys running and Ness throwing their freaking card table in the middle of the street!.

This cat WAS truly a one man army. He has a little gray on him now, but I bet he's still the same badass. The last time I saw him was at the GG Finals in Madison Square Garden's Theatre when Paulie Malinaggi lost to Darling Jimenez. I just thought it was cool to see Ness after all of these years. I have seen him in Shane's corner before, but didn't think it was him.

Trey, it's funny you say that, because when watching 24/7 I thought he just sort of seemed like a legit badass, usually you can tell, just a certain ora etc.

And Floyd's goons just look like a bunch of roided up retards, I would bet money that Shane's bodyguard could take every one of them easily, one on one, so could Floyd himself.

Agreed. Arguably the best welterweight fight of the 90s, along with Brown-Blocker and Page-Lopez.

Lopez-Quartey and Trinidad-Campos also deserve to be up there as well, bro.

Too bad about Lopez, that kid had it all but let his demons get the best of him.

Last I heard, he went broke trying to open a surf shop in Baja..the kid had beautiful balance.

i think one of those gorillas would choke slam mayweather jr. gregory leon has fast become irrelevant in the boxing game but he provides some insight as to why the security team was beefed up
