DLH-Tito or tonight? I'd still go with Tito-DLH. Both those guys were in thier mid 20's, prime, and EVERYBODY was expecting a classic. At least tonight we knew we could get a sloppy/boring fight with old man Mosley.
WHAT? Tonight was entertaining. It's not even close. First of all the hype for DLH/Tito was much more than this. Second of all, it was a boxing lesson nearly the entire time with PBF as the aggressor. If PBF got on his bike for the last 4 rounds, then maybe, but he didn't.
Forgive me for this, but I have to say it: You just answered your own question and everyone else likely feels the same so why even make the thread?
DLH vs. Trinidad...was a bigger letdown the building up was huge, the countdown..months..then weeks...then days..then hours...it was incredible time a lot of fun..then the fight turn out to be total shit. Might have been different with a smaller ring and 15 rounder... For Mosley vs. Mayweather most people were expecting 8-4 victory by the books from Mayweather...he was a lot more dominating than that...
there was no true winner of de la hoya-tito. both fighters displayed limitations that night. tonight's result was expected by many. floyd looked great as usual. i don't think it was a letdown.
Tonight was a bigger letdown .. Who would have thought that Mosely would have developed Parkinson Disease in the first round .... Now thats a classic !!!! Almost as classic as the "in-fighter" Ricky Hatton decided to become an outside boxer Vs Mayweather ... You know, how Spinks was knocked out before the fight even started ..
Dawg you outta have ur boxing fan card revoked for this bullshit ass thread. You can't say that you weren't on the edge of ur seat during the second round and throughout the fight thinking damn Shane might be able to turn the tide wit 1 of the rt hands. Then you had to wonder if Sly's prediction was gonna come through cause I thought that they were gonna possibly stop the fight. But yeah dawg this might be ur worst thread ever! I'll Holla 5000
DLH Tito was much more of an even fight we knew Floyd would win this one, so only an idiot would have been let down
I agree 100% with Bigdawg and let me add.... Knowing the history of these two fighters...how could anyone not have enjoyed seeing teh role reversal: Floyd hunting down Shane and trying to stop him: Shane basically backpaddling and trying to survive. Fascinating! Plus BOTH men were hurt and looked in danger of being stoped at one time or another. It was a one-sided fight FO SHO....but it was intriguing to true fans of the sport.
Tito-DLH by a mile. The result of this fight was no big surprise. Mosley looked like a nearly 40 year old fighter with a lot of miles on him who hadn't fought in 16 months. Sure, he landed a big shot early and had Floyd in some trouble, but he gassed so quickly that by the 4th round it seemed obvious that he wouldn't be able to repeat that moment again. And then the fight turned into a repetitive series of rounds in which Mosley had ceased being a threat and it was just a matter of waiting out the rounds for the inevitable Mayweather lop-sided decision win. Tito-DLH was expected to be a much better fight than it played out. No one expected how underwhelming it was going to be. Prior to the fight folks were making it sound like the 90's version of Leonard-Hearns I. Tito-DLH was the fight that everyone wanted to see at that time and Mayweather-Mosley was the consolation prize for the failed Mayweather-Pacquaio fight.
How Could Anyone have Been "Letdown" by this Fight???...Instead of the Boring, Potshotting, Stick & Move Tactics we've Grown Accustomed to from Floyd, we Saw him PURSUING a Guy that BADLY Hurt him... This was 1 of Floyd's 5 or 10 BEST Performances in REED's Opinion.... REED:hammert:
Not let down by Floyd so much, as he did great. The let down was with Mosley though, as it could have been a much better fight.
REED Attributes that to Floyd's SUPERIOR Speed, his ACCURACY & his UNDERRATED Pop...It was Pretty Obvious by Mosley's Body Language that he KNEW he Could Get STOPPED if he Forced the Issue... Floyd Basically MADE Shane Fight PASSIVELY... REED:hammert:
Shane also gassed out. 38 is exactly what it sounded like. But I thought Shane's abs meant he was in supreme shape. Obviously he wasn't. This ain't an old man's sport as i said. Shane talked a good game though. They did good ppv buys for this and everybody will get some nice money.
Age is a factor...but you have to give Floyd credit for wearig Shane down too. Floyd's head-snapping jab, jab to the chest, accurate counters, and making Mosley miss were more contributory factors to Shane's "gassing" than Shane's age.
of course you floyd fans are amazed that floyd was moving forward towards shane, but shane fans saw a fighter that was a shadow of himself. floyd was ONLY able to do that because he was able to beat shane to the punch, not surprising at this stage of their careers. floyd gets full credit for adjusting and utilizing the correct fight strategy considering the circumatances but lets not go overboard.
Agreed. I give credit to Holyfield for beating Tyson but we gotta be real. It wasn't the 1988 Tyson he beat. So we gotta be real about the version of Shane who showed up last night. An almost-39 year old with limited stamina. At least Shane had nice abs though.:kidcool: But nice abs got nothing on Father Time.
Stop crying and get over it. Shane got dominated by Floyd. Live with it. Fight would have been different in their primes....but Floyd would have still won.
Because he wasn't able to take roids. The man was a chronic juicer he didn't get tired against Margarito or anyone else for that matter.
