:atu: youre such a stupid cunt. last nights fight has absolutely no bearing on what wouldve occurred if the two fought a dozen years ago
Oh yes. Floyd was always better than Shane. I've been saying this since they were both prime. Floyd has always been smarter and more dimensional than Shane. Shane's speed and agressiveess and better stamina would have made it much closer and very interesting, but Floyd woul dhave still won.
Sly, please. Stop digging. Shane beat a much better version of Oscar in 2000. Floyd struggled with a part-time Oscar in 2007. Be real.
You are right Floyd is a better boxer than Mosley, more dimensions and smart...but Mosley speed/power/aggression would have fucked Mayweather up back in 1998-99...
I cant believe anybody thought this would be an entertaining fight... Mosley is an old man and has been for a long time... Mayweather is one of the best in the world, it was a clear mismatch... Mayweather looked good, Mosley looked old
i agree. mayweather jr was a kid back then. coming into camp at 135 for super featherweight fights. mosley was a very strong guy cutting weight to make lightweight and then coming into the ring in the 150s. his strength wouldve probably been too much for mayweather jr in 98-99
prime for prime, floyd gets wasted...phonetap is positive of that after last night. but knowing your dumbass you'd say a past-prime 39 year old mayweather would have beated a near-prime 33 year old mosley in the same fashion. ::
Cdogg beat me to it. Other then the 2nd round, it was a dull ass fight. And to answer Bigdawg's question... no I wasnt in suspense after the 2nd. After Shane blew his chance to put Floyd away in the 2nd, I knew it was over. Mosley looked shot to shit, yes some of it had to do with Floyd... but ALOT of it was just father time. If Floyd got hurt like that with the 00-01 Mosley, he'd have been fucked. Period. And May himself is slowly declining I think. He's alot more flat footed now then he used to be, and I dont think its all by choice. Floyd DID prove his toughness however, but that didnt surprise me. I always knew that underneath the saftey first style that Floyd was a fighter. But overall just a sloppy fight, mostly due to Shane being shot, and grappling.
Mayweather tracking down and beating Mosley up for every second after the 2nd was unexpected I think, so that was interesting. I also like a much faster Mayweather to not get hit with the right hand he got hit last night, more than a prime Mosley actually figuring out Floyd. Floyd is a level ahead.
Mosley has slipped ALOT more then Floyd has. There were times when Shane had Floyd cornered on the ropes, and just simply could NOT pull the trigger. Classic of a shot fighter. You could say that its because he was weary of being countered, and I see it as simply a case of Shane's mind wanting him to open up, but his body being too old to. And the right hands he threw to Floyd's body were patheticly slow and had nothing on them. He looked almost as shot as Jones, only differance is Shane still has a good chin. But I think Floyd coulda stopped him if he had really opened up in the 10th and 11th. Mosley was a corpse by then, and a sitting duck. Floyd pressed forward, but he didnt really try to close the show.
Cmon guys thats not even fair. Mosley was 28 and in his prime while MW wa still7-8 years away from his prime. Of course Shane wouldve beat him back then but thats not a fair comparison. Theres a lot of shit I could do better 10 years ago.
Dude, all great points. But the thing that impressed me about Floyd was round 3. Between rounds 2 and 3 Uncle Roger and the entire Mayweather corner were nervous as shit about Shane hurting Floyd. They urged him to "box this mother fucker". Floyd, to his credit, never flinched; never worried; and never batter an eyelash. His resolve was incredible. He bolted off his stool to start the 3rd and went right to Shane and never looked back. The physical skills are obvious with Floyd. His speed, balance and reflexes are second to none. But his mental toughness last night made me a fan.
I'm with you Trpl. Say what you want about Mosley last night... he still caught Floyd and hurt him. Floyd's reaction was impressive.
You know what I'm so fucking tired of Mofo's using the well this wouldn't have happened in 2000. Guess what we will never know cause it's 2010 and there is no way possible we can turn back the clock. Only thing we can go by now is what happened last night and we saw PBF put on a hellava performance. I'll Holla 5000
THIS!!!.... SHOT or Not, Mosley was Good Enough to COMPROMISE, EMBARRASS & HURT Floyd Mayweather...As Such, Floyd's RESPONSE to that is the STORY of the Fight... ANY So-Called Boxing Fan that DIDN'T Develop @ Least a SEMBLANCE of Respect for THE WAY Floyd Responded, is just a Childish Hater....Plain & Simple.... REED:hammert:
Exactly, all that talk about the "drama" of waiting to see if Shane could land another bomb later in the fight is bullshit. Shane was gassed early in the fight and I never thought he was gonna land another fight changing punch. There was no suspense in this fight from the 3rd round on.
You motherfuckers act like ya'll knew what was gonna happen before the fight even ended. Get the fuck outta here. So I guess none of you guys thought that he was gonna get his second wind? Ya'll knew that PBF was just gonna continue to walk Shane down and counter him to death right. Yeah right. Shane tried to but was unsuccessful due to PBF's ability to make adjustments. Ya'll might not have been on the edge of your seats but I damn sure was cause I thought that Shane had a punchers chance. But then once that ended I thought that he was gonna be stopped for the first time in his career. It kept me in suspense. I'll Holla 5000
Here's the Thing, Joe Namath... Absolutely NOBODY Predicted Floyd to FORCE the Issue w/Shane...So the FACT that Floyd Did this, IMMEDIATELY AFTER Being Hurt, Rightfully ADDED "Drama" to the Fight... Shane had PROVEN he Could Hurt Floyd, yet Floyd Flat Out REFUSED to Play it Safe...He Put HIMSELF in the Danger Zone w/a Guy that LEGITIMATELY Hurt him... If U Watch the Fight Knowing the Outcome AHEAD of Time, then there's Little if Any "Drama"...But Watching it LIVE, there Certainly was...REED was in a CROWDED Sports Bar & it WASN'T Until about Rounds 7, 8 or 9 that it Became CLEAR that Shane WOULDN'T B Able to Repeat Round 2... REED:hammert:
I gotta respectfully disagree REED. Soon as I saw Shane badly gassed in the 3rd, all the butterflies in my stomache of suspense quickly left. Its to Floyd's credit that he walked Mosley down, but it was EXTEMELY apparent after the 2nd that Shane had nothing on his punches.
Reed I just don't get all of these Monday morning quarterbacks. They knew this was gonna happen but yet #1 they didn't gamble on the fight and #2 they damn sure didn't predict this shit on this website. I'll Holla 5000
How could you assume that Shane wouldn't have made a comeback at that point? The only other fight that he went into a full shell mode was the Forrest fight and that was after he was cracked and knocked down. Shane had just put Floyd on queer street at that point. During the Cotto fight he had a lull for a few rounds but made a strong comeback and he also poured it on late against Margarito.
Exactly. Suddenyl everyone knew that Shane was gassed and had no chance immeditaely after he hurt Floyd in the 2nd! :notallthere:
It Makes NO Sense, Honestly... How Many OTHER Times has Fighter A. HURT Fighter B., yet Right @ that Moment, EVERYBODY KNEW Fighter B. Had Fighter A. Right Where he Wanted him???...It's just HATE...For the 1st Time EVER, REED Actually WANTED Floyd to LOSE a Fight, but U Gotta Give Props where Props R Due...Particualy when Factor in the MANNER in Which Floyd Fought.... REED:shit:
Agreed. I almost pissed myself when Shane buckled Floyd. But yeah, I liked how Floyd took it and still did his thing. Props to Floyd!
From reading the threads, I can see that Floyd fans are happy and impressed with Floyd's win but at the same time, kinda upset that Shane didn't show more in the fight and made it a tougher battle for Floyd. Some sympathy going for Shane who looked his age apparently and couldn't throw punches in bunches like he did a decade back.
The 2nd round was DRAMATIC-My heart was pounding. Not long after that the only drama for me was whether or not SSM was going to see the final bell. Originally I thought that SSM would only see the final belll because PBF would only fight "not to lose", but I was wrong. SSM saw the final bell because HE fought "not to get stopped". Domination.
Are you talking about me?? Because if so, maybe you shouldn't because my prediction for this fight was on target. What was YOUR prediction? Was it closer to what happened than mine? If it was, then please by all means continue to run your mouth. If not, the you might want to shut it before you make a fool of your self.
Quite simply... cause Floyd is leagues better then Margarita, and Cotto, and I was confident he was in control after the 3rd.
