Floyd Mayweather ponders move to 160 against Sergio Martinez?

If the Pacquiao fight doesn’t come together, an interesting prospect of moving up to 160-pounds to fight WBC/WBO middleweight champion Sergio Martinez could prove to be quite the tantalizing fight. The Argentinean is an equally crafty fighter who is coming off an excellent performance against Kelly Pavlik to claim the titles several weeks back.
“It’s possible,â€￾ Mayweather said, surprising everyone that he would even consider a move to middleweight.

I gotta give Floyd mad props if he decides to stay in the game and look at fighting some of the bigger guys. Although moving to 160 is a pretty dangerous move I think. He'd basically give up all of his punching power at that weight.

Which are your Floyd dream fights besides Pacman, ILLU?

Williams, Even if he get beat/Koed by Cintron......

I don't get MAYWEATHER...he is not after TITLES...and he always says if it doesn't make money it doesn't make sense...then why fight Martinez???

He can easily make more money fighting Pacquiao, Cotto, Williams or Berto...

Pacman, Williams and Berto are definitely marketable fights. Cotto has been brutally KO'd the last few times so I'm not sure about him now.

I think its funny that Oscar is Floyd's promoter.

How about Floyd Mayweather vs Andre Ward at a 157.5 catchweight?

I would love that, too bad Ward can't make 160 lbs nowadays

I'd pay to watch Floyd execute Berto.

Williams is an easy fight for Floyd. Williams can't handle movement at all.

Floyd cant move as well as he used to. Its not a choice that he stood flat footed in front of Mosley. He's slowing down. Williams dont give a fuck in the ring, he'll just continue to throw... and that will give Floyd all types of problems. In addition to the obvious absurd height and reach edge.

Williams is a dumb fighter. He looks good against guys who stand right infront of him. Floyd can hit and run and P-Wills has a low punch output and no defensive skill gets exposed.

Other than Pacquaio fight..a Cotto fight would make the most money..

but i rather see Mayweather vs. Williams...if the Pac fight can't be made..

If Cotto beats Foreman that is a great fight to take for Floyd.

Yes Vida,.. if boxing fans desire excellent action packed fights, Williams would be a huge draw, as a hardcore fan, that would be my favoured opponent,..but I think Fraud will take a look at his range, height, and endless workrate and decline that particular avenue for the rest of his career, hopefully they come up with a lucrative offer behind a Williams fight and confront him with it, so we can see a bitch-fit, or not.

its a decent payday to stay busy vs a name guy who is damaged goods if they cant make the pacquiao fight happen in sep/nov. two words would prevent that one, however: Bob Arum

In his 2 loses against Martinez and Quintana who both moved around and potshotted he didn't get off the same punch output that he did against Margarito who stood infront of him. It's reall not that complicated to understand.

Floyd is too small for Middleweight.

    Welterweight is his limit.

It WAS by choice. He could have "danced" if he wanted to. He saw something in Shane that told him he could walk him down.

yeah, floyd noticed like everyone else that shane was a shadow of his former self. trying to walk shane down was usually a bad move, ask oscar.

Oscar walked Shane down without any defense. he underestimated Shane as a small lightweight.

Floyd walked Shane down behind a head snapping jab, good defense, and sharp counters.

Basically the same way he treated Zab Judah...

I rather see him fight Pacquaio. If that fight can't happen, maybe the p4p best FIGHTER in the world, Pacquaio. If that can't happen for any reason, then how about the WBO welterweight champion of the world, Manny Pacquaio. If that guy is unavailable, how about an established PPV FIGHTER, Pacquaio?
