This fight is a Month away and i like Foreman to win this fight. Cotto is in a new weight class and has suffered 2 bad beatings in his last 4 fights and a tough fight with Clottey, but im not sure that Foreman can get a decision over Cotto at Yankee stadium. Anybody else share the same thoughts......
I´m not sure either. I mean is Cotto really as good as Anthony Thompson, Andrey Tsurkan, or a 34 year old Daniel Santos coming off a two year lay-off and significant weight cutting. I think the obvious answer is NO. :kick: Although having the saboteur E. Steward in his corner will hurt Cotto. You factor in the size advantage, and the Pacquiao beatdown and Foreman might pull out another BS win purely based on circumstances. Put Foreman in a ring with a Kirkland or Angulo and he gets the beating of his life, but Arum will do everything to avoid that.
i think foreman is pretty good actually. he's boring and monotonous but he fights effectively for 12 rounds. and i honestly think that cotto is damaged goods and moving up in weight won't do him any good either.
i agree Cotto is better than those guys - good point. but he's also significantly smaller and most importantly, shorter.
If you're asking if Cotto will be protected in a close fight, I'm not so sure he will be. Once, unquestionably, yes. Now? Boxing often transcends ethnic localities & their interests in the pursuit of insulating its big names --- sadly (& somewhat unfairly), Cotto is no longer of great relevance to the powers that be. No one of great influence will cry for Cotto should he fall completely off the map, as he appears to be doing. Add to that his public determination that retirement is an impending reality, & the idea his protection in such a locale is a given is gone. That's not to say he won't be. It's perfectly plausible he'll be protected as a soon-to-be retired Rican on de facto home soil. We'll just have to wait & see to be sure, but my gut says he won't be insulated if it's especially close. Still, I'd be at least mildly-concerned, if I were working Foreman's corner.
I give Foreman a good shot but I really hope Cotto wins, since that will prove he still has it and may end up giving us another mega fight against Floyd if the NSAC's rulebook keeps standing on the way of Manny and his 50 million dolar payday.
It's a bad match up. Cotto's isn't fit for 154. LIke you mentioned this guy is very defensive and big. Very hard fight for Cotto.
Cotto is damaged goods. His chin is likely to fail him again. Going up to 154 is a mistake. He'll end up like Meldrick taylor....
