The Motorcity Cobra vs The Viper... People forget how much of a badass Forrest was prior to the Mayorga fight. I think his injuries played a big part in his career going down the route that it did. That said, even at his best, I still think that Hearns takes him. Because Forrest had boxing skills, he'd have a chance to last the distance, and if he lands his best right hand, then you never know being that Hearns had a bit of a suspect chin. That being said, Hearns was too good. Faster, more powerful, and an even better boxer. I think after a chess match, he gets to Vernon late with that big right hand and the ref has to step in. Hearns TKO 10.
You pretty much broke it down there. Hearns is the faster, more powerful and better moving fighter and thus he would beat Forrest clearly. Of course if Hearns ran into something stupid he could lose, but Forrest was usually not one to go after his opponents (he had to learn what happens when you attack someone with more weapon arsenal)
Problem is....I struggle to see any advantage that Forrest has over Hearns. I would have said chin...but then I have to remember the first mayorga fight. hearns is taller, faster, more powerful. Gotta go with Hearns by decision or late KO.
I actually think Vernon was a good fighter and could make it a fight a little.. but we all know Tommy whups him..
Hearns bombs Forrest out within the first 6 rounds. Forrest was skilled, but he's not going to outbox or outslug Hearns.
^^^^I agree he's not gonna outbox him, but I think Vernon could around a little longer. This is Forrrest at his best we're talking about, not the one who was troubled by injuries by the time Mayorga got to him. I agree Hearns wins simply because he's better, but I think Vernon has enough skills and know how to last past the first half of the fight and be at least somewhat competitive.
If you were responding to me, then I don't think so. Forrest was a pretty good boxer, but Hearns would beat him to the punch repeatedly and Forrest wasn't a big puncher and wouldn't have the firepower or handspeed to turn the fight the way Leonard did. Hearns by stoppage within 6 rounds
Would probably go the distance, Forrest was pretty good and wouldn't be outsized. Reading this forum one would think Hearns ended all his fights by KO. :: But Hearns was a much better boxer and hit harder. Hearns UD.
You've already said this twice in this thread. Come on...say it at least one more time, so that we can be all convinced.
Are you looking to start yet ANOTHER pissing contest, Stafford?? And then cry (and LIE) about how all you want to do is talk about boxing? Looks like you have been taking douchebag lessons from your boyfriend Floyd.
Actually this is exactly the type of thing you say to me, unprovoked, all the time. So stop being a hypocrite.
Blah, blah, blah, Stafford is picking yet ANOTHER fight. Is it possible for you to stop being a douchebag, even for a minute? Wait...I know you want to be just like Floyd...so probably not. I guess douchebag it is.
