Has Manny Pacquiao ever fought an African American?

I'd love to hear the argument. Bull-shit.

Pacquiao, has more in common, physically and mentally, with other african american pro-boxers,... than a black poster does.

Ledwaba is south african, Clottey is african. What the fuck does it matter if they are african-american? If an African moves to the US does that make them a better fighter?

    Sly is a fucking racist.

    whoa....

It's merely trivia. It just occured to me that I hadn't seen him in the ring with an African American...and like it or not African American's have historically dominated the Welterweight divisions (Leonard, Hearns, Pryor, Taylor, Mosley, Whitaker, Breland, Armstrong, Robinson, Brown..etc)...and pretty much boxing in general above Featherweight.

So was asking to see if there was someone that I had forgotten.

Ledwaba and Clottey don't classify as African Americans.

I'm not saying that Pacquiao is an unproven bum because he hasn't fought an African american fighter, just asking a question.

Shouldn't you be out chasing Aliens with "J"..instead of bothering me with your nonsense?

Get a grip man. It's interesting trivia since African Americans have dominated boxing for 100 years. Nothing more.

Yeah, cause Sly has never posted anything racial before. You're not going to change my mind, as far as I am concerned Sly is a racist. Interesting trivia my ass.

Do white people chase aliens? Is this some kind od racist remark?

I've never seen anything to suggest Sly's racist. He seems to hate England and thinks it's a racist country since he got loads of shit there growing up in the 70s and 80s (when it doubtless WAS a racist country, much more than today). Beyond that I don't think he's racist at all.:dunno:

Cool. Unless you have something to back it up with, keep it to yourself.

As far as I know there are no African-Americans fighting competitively in the 143 lb. weight class at this moment.

We know Sugar Shane was propositioned, but felt that was not a weight class he was worthy of.

Pretty soon Pacman will have all the belts at 143 and 145 and the WBA will declare him the "Super Dooper Junior Welter Middle PocketWeight Diamond Belt Champion In PED Recess"

I found the midlands to be quite racist towards me when I went up there. Everywhere else has been fine.

 Ahhh yes,.. Da DIAMOND BELT!,..da DIAMOND BELT!... Pacquiao: I wanna fight for the DIAMOND BELT!!!... and still,.. nobody can answer me wether he got his diamond belt or not.

    Neither does Quartey.

It is an interesting point, these weight classes have traditionally been dominated by African American boxers, and we haven't seen Pac in there with one yet.

Well, Mayweather will be the first. Maybe he'll fight Mosley after Floyd beats him

Ledwaba and Clottey were the only two I could think of, but they weren't Americans.

Judah hasn't been a junior welter since 2003. At that time, Pac was a featherweight, beating MAB.

Pac has only fought as a welter since late 2008, when he pecked Delahoya to death in December of that year. Prior to that, he fought David Diaz at 135. Hell, he fought Hatton at 140 AFTER the Delahoya fight. He was still acclimating to 147

Other than Zahir Raheem (who was hot and cold, winning a few and then losing one before winning a few again), I can't think of anyone African American in the lighter weights that had a title and winning record that could generate enough interest for a fight. :dunno:

Pac usually went after the title and the big name. Maybe I'm forgetting someone obvious...

Pac has had three fights at Welter. Clottey, Cotto, and Delahoya. He was trying to get Mayweather, but we all remember how that went.:dunno:

Although Welter and, to a lesser extent, Junior Welter, have been dominated by African Americans, I'm having a hard time thinking of 135ers and below (to 122 or so) who have been dominant African American champions over the last 20 years.

This is like asking how many Asians Wlad Klitschko has fought.

  23. Buddy Rydell

Other than Kevin Kelley (knockdown prone), Derrick Gainer (not dominant), and Freddie (Don't call him Hagler, Lil or otherwise) Norwood...:dunno:

Azumah Nelson was from Ghana, same as Quartey.

Casamayor and Campbell were never at a point in time to be beltholders or have momentum when Pacquaio was active in their divisions.

Which would be an interesting question if Asians had dominated boxing for the last 100 years.....Fact is a great fighter getting to 31 without fighting an african American is NOTE worthy. Nobodies making any imputations about it given Manny's career trajectory, it's only note worthy.

Yup..it's exactly like that. Asians have historically dominated the Heavyweight division.

Asians dominate HW as much as African Americans dominate 135 and below. Which are the weight classes Manny has fought in for the vast majority of his career.

Who should he have fought? Don't just name people for the sake of naming them either. Who could Manny have fought that he avoided?

Just like African Americans have dominated 135 and below right? Which is where Manny has fought the majority of his career.

No one is talking about Manny avoiding anyone.

Just saying that it's noteworthy that he hasn't fought an African American to date.

Raheem was the only real option out there, other than Floyd. No other American Africans in the picture

They gave the same POS belt to Floyd. There are now TWO diamond champions at 147.
