Fights where the winner, to the surprise of many, fights his opponent's fight and beats him at his own game.

    You know..

He outboxes the boxer or outslugs the slugger.

    Holyfield-Tyson 1 (Holyfield bullies Tyson)
    Mayweather-Mosley (Mayweather is the agressor)

    Name some more examples.

    Leonard - Hearns I

After realizing early on he couldn't beat Hearns by boxing, Leonard becomes much more aggressive and that paves the way to his 14th round TKO win. And Leonard's success also Hearns makes change his tactics and he starts moving and boxing (which is what Leonard was supposed to be doing) and builds up a points lead before getting stopped.

Slugging was Foreman's game too..so I wouldn't necessarily have included that one.

Danny Williams threw serious leather, put on a lot of pressure, and used good handspeed and combination punching to comprehensively dismantle a way-past-prime Tyson.

That is absolute BS......Hatton threw a fucking tonne of legit leather vs Tszyu. What do you think Tszyu did? Just said "nah, tired of this wrestling, think I will quit"....Tszyu had livid red welts under both eyes after that fight. Hatton beat that guy with 2 fisted aggression.

I have to say, I think Hatton fought a great fight on the clean level, but I must say he would not have won, in my view, without persistent fouling. Fouling sponsored by the officiating.

If that fight were clean, I think Tszyu wins a split decision. Very competitive, as the fight itself was, but Hatton's illegal behaviour swung it against an ageing (though fairly well-aged) Tszyu who hadn't warred in some time.

How about Randy Turpin vs Ray Robinson?

Didn't Turpin outbox "the master boxer" in that fight?

Hatton's style was wrong for Tszyu,.. people claim a prime Tszyu this, a prime Tszyu that,.. I remember a prime Tszyu verses a chronic clinging Sharmba Mitchell in thier first fight, he looked like shit because Tszyu preferred to stalk and time 'boxers' ,..he did not like ya maulers and grapplers, he was nowhere near as effective.

It's difficult to say, but I honestly would favour Tszyu. Hatton got away with far too much that night (in spite of performing wonderfully within the rules as well), & Tszyu, though still a great fighter, was somewhat reduced by injuries, age, & a lack of battle-hardened wars of late --- he really was still great in losing, to Hatton's credit. Tszyu fought very hard, but I think a younger version, with the ref on-side, probably beats Hatton.

Tszyu got a couple of close rounds here and there but to be honest Hatton was on control all the way. The fight wasn't close enough to claim a different ref would've given different results IMO.

Whatever Hatton did to Tszyu, it wasn't what Tszyu did to his opponents and therefore doesn't belong in this thread.

Dlh fought Gatti's fight. Vitali fought Sanders' fight. Williams fought Margarito's fight, but now sort of always fights that way.

I disagree. I didn't see Hatton truly get on top of this fight until the last two rounds --- the tenth & eleventh. Earlier, Tszyu battled him tooth-&-nail, hammer-&-tong, in a fight under-rated for both its action & competitiveness.

I would say Castillo - Corrales 1... Corrales fought Castillo's fight completely.
yes Corrales is a slugger and agressive but he fought an inside fight the whole night...quite impressive.
