This guy was freaking awesome! Too bad his prime was for a short period of time.

YES!!! One of the most exciting fighters in my opinion! :bears: I would have loved to see him against Antonio Margarito (in his prime of course).

He was entertaining for sure. After the pummeling by Tito, he was done.

Worst decision ever made bythe mayorga team was fghting Cory Spinks. You don't fight an awkward southpaw when you've got potential big fights with Mosley etc. I think he would have had a very good shot at beating Shane at that time (while he still believed in his chin).

Secondly...WTF was he thinking...moving up to Middleweight to fight a comebacking Tito. That fight destroyed his potential big money making ability.

Mayorga would have been "awesome" if he spoke damn english. Shit talking through an interpreter doesn't cut it for me! Plus it all lost its appeal to me after each and every time he kissed his opponent after the fight and told them he was only talking shit only to go repeat the process in the next fight

That was a vicious uppercut he landed on DLH. What a chin DLH has!

Other than that, the video mostly demonstrates Mayorgas ability to rabbit punch.

A limited fighter who exposed a pervasive trend in Boxing today --- the desire to heavily over-rate a fighter based largely on a high-profile performance...that is, Forrest agains Mosley. Mosley was over-rated after beating De La Hoya, as hysteria swept through the fans. It turned the focus to Forrest when he annihilated Mosley, & then Mayorga crashed it again. In every instance, a fighter simply received too much credit, making Mayorga's victory over Forrest look bigger than it was.

Agreed after that savage beating he was never the same. Rumor is he only trained 2-3 weeks for that fight and he went toe to toe with Tito @160. I would never forget how we allowed Tito 3 free shots to the chin:lol: Shit was funny until I seen Mayorga take all of them and kept fighting. I was like WTF!!!

Honestly, I think the first free shot cracked his chin permanently. It was the beginning of the end for him. He didn't go down but he never could take a shot like that again.

Fighting Spinks was a bad decision but either way he would've gotten tore apart by Mosley.

I know you are a huge Mosley fan but I still have to disagree with you there.

Oh and Tito was the big money fight man what the hell are you talking about? There's no way Mayorga could've been slowly turned into a superstar, he just didn't have the talent for it.

Mosley would have destroyed Mayorga but it would have been fun to watch and less one sided than the Tito and DLH fights.

I would have favored Mosley but Shanes willingness to engage in a toe to toe battle would have made this very interesting..... I wouldn't count Mayorga out completely. :crafty:

Other than a fight vs. DLH which other fight would make him more money at that time than fighting Trinidad?

Apparently he doesn´t, Don King is now in the fight stopping business. Tavoris Cloud needs to have his license suspended, because he must be a retard to have signed with DKP. What an idiot.

The fight is going forward. Don King issues a cease and desist, Shine Fights responded saying they will not pull him from the card as Don King has no legal authority over Mayorga's MMA career. He signed a Boxing contract with Don King and Mayorga is not boxing so it's not valid.

I disagree. King has shown over and over his ability to make rich men of average quality champions.

I'll always be a Mayorga fan. I was in Vegas when he fought Forrest, and I had a feeling he was gonna beat him, so I laid big bucks on him. He was going off at something like +650, so I made a killing.

I was at the Spinks fight, and from the live view, Mayorga won the fight. I never saw the tape so I don't know how it looked on TV, but live, Mayorga won the fight. Spinks did nothing but run like a scared little sissy.

But, I agree with everyone else, the Tito fight ruined him. He did give Mosely a run for his money, but I think that had more to do with Mosely not being as good as everyone thought.

Mayorga was such an overrated fighter and in several places. For one his power was overrated for a long time due to him Koing Forrest and a chinny 6 Head's Lewis. The 2nd place he was overrated in was his excitement level. There was nothing exciting about watching a talentless wild swinging bum fight. Yes the FIRST Forrest fight was exciting but pretty much everything after was boring. The Tito and ODLH fights were only exciting in the view that watching them beat the living shit out of a helpless Mayorga.

Also Spinks defeat of Mayorga was not disgraceful but rather a boxing clinic. Did he run a lot? Sure but Mayorga was crowding him and it was either keep his distance by running or clinching. He didn't run nearly as much as he was slipping and dodgeing Mayorga's shots.

Mayorga was actually quite talented. He just didn't learn to box.
