He ran off the stretcher and finished.

 

From what I saw, and from what I gather, he fell out onto the table, and landed on the monitor on the table, and it was the head/neck area (which yes is just above the shoulders ) and due to that, they didn't want to take chances that there could be something wrong.

Besides, if he potentially did some damage to his neck and head, you're gonna put him back in the ring to get punched in the head for another 8-9 rounds?

I dunno about all that.

That was just so weird. I thought he was badly hurt when he was just lying there, motionless. But then he seemed fine.

 

I knew he was fine the whole time. He just didn't wanna get back in the ring because he knew the ass whipping was coming. So like the bitch he is, he chose milk it for every penny and then act like he wanted to continue all along.

It is easy for Erratic to talk shit when he isn't the one doing the fighting.

 

I admit it does look bad there, and it DOES look like he pushed off his foot and jumped, but I gotta give him the benefit of the doubt there. Of course I haven't watched a buncha his fights as some of you have.

I just think jumping out of the ring is so bizarre and ridiculous that there's no way I can understand someone doing it.

We'll see....this isn't like Dirrell, where we had to make our own minds up if he was faking it or not...this should be pretty black and white. If Cintron did actually hurt himself then you just gotta put it down as a freak accident and move on.

 

He's a bitch, we kind of knew that already, but this was fucking bizarre. Even as it happened on the stream, it really did look like he sort of launched himself out of the ring. In the replay, well, that's exactly what happened.

Seriously wtf, kamikaze boxing? Launching yourself out of the ring to get out of the fight when it starts to heat up? I guess we have to give him points for originality at least.

Good for you, again, this dude never did me a favor, never hit it off, and I could care less about this cat, calling it as I see it.

 

'Winded'...how convenient.....from what i saw, he was making no effort to get up. Being winded isn't nice, but it doesn't immobilise you. So if that's all it was, why would he not resist being taken out on a stretcher with a neck brace on?


There won't be a rematch, the fight was a bore up to that point...Williams was woefully inaccurate and Cintron was purely looking for counters. There'll be very few calls for a repeat.

 

I am not a huge Cintron fan, but he is getting a bad rap here. Paul Williams did the first grab and started the contact that got him off balance, Cintron threw a missed punch that got him off balance. So you've got two guys who are probably going to fall.

I think Cintron thought that the ropes would stop his progress, and frankly there isn't much you can do when you are off balance falling toward the ropes anyway. So he kind of tried to put his back into the ropes to stop himself, and of course he went through instead. Although he did lose some of his momentum. He then fell rather softly (all things considered) on a ringside table, but got some sort of monitor under his neck and back. OK, nothing horrendous. But then according to what the HBO guys said, the doctor came over and was givig him advice and telling him he should not continue.

I find this whole thing bizarre and even inappropriate. Unless the ringside doctor sees evidence of some sort of horrific injury, he or she should not tell the fighter what to do. The fighter has 5 minutes to get back in the ring. If he can't, then doc can have his way. If he can, then doc doesn't need to intervene.

But instead, Cintron is being told to stay put and not to get up? Based on Kermit cussing, swearing, and pounding the side of the ambulance on his way out, I'd say he was fully capable of continuing, and the doctor or other ringside personnel essentially donated a loss to him. Again, unless you see a bone sticking out of some guy's back, what right does the doctor have to provide unsolicited advice to a fighter telling him not to continue? It's unprofessional. There is a place for doctor's intervention in a boxing match, as defined by the giverning body's rules. That's it.

To me, this is akin to the ringside doctor witnessing a knockdown and while the fighter is on the ground, about to get up, the doctor insists that he stay down for medical reasons. That's bullshit. Give the guy advice after he fails to get up in time, or if he gets up then after the fight is OVER.

Cintron may have been stupid for not getting up anyway, but he was obviously not afraid to keep fighting, and all accounts said that he wanted to keep going but the doctor would not allow it, whatever that is supposed to mean.

To me, an equally significant issue is how in the world the fight was not ruled a technical draw since a punch did not cause the fall, and the doctor prohibited Cintron from continuing... and further, how in the world the scoring was so fucked up. There is no WAY Williams won all 3+ rounds, and there is virtually no way that Cintron won all 3+ rounds, although you could at least make a case for the latter since I thought Cintron landed the harder blows, and in fact landed more total punches. Yet you had two scorecards 40-36 in opposite directions?

The should rematch in 2 weeks, don't even break camp. This was going to be a good fight as it got warmed up. Besides, no one at 147 will touch Williams anyway, he may as well forget Pac or Floyd, it's a pipe dream.

why was this obvious?...i'm not disagreeing with you, but from the footage i saw, i'd say it was ambiguous at best. Surely, if you're hurt, but want to continue, you make some effort to get up. If he was just winded, i don't get why he was so motionless, appearing it to be something more serious. Watching it, i thought he may have dislocated his shoulder, fucked his collarbone or something serious....not simply winded. The frustration that he did demonstrate came after the decision was announced that he had actually lost the fight. But this is just going on the Sky tv feed.

I agree with your points on the ruling....not only the rules, and the scoring...but the confusion over whose rules they were fighting under...unified or cali.

In short, the whole thing was a farce.

 

Cintron is a bitch, should be banned from boxing. Nuff said. Motherfucker LITERALLY took a dive.
