I want to see it but Machida/Silva would have been Pacquiao/PBF. This fight isn't.

but Silva wouldn't fight Machida because of friendship. Now Shogun is the man @ LHW, despite his so-so record at UFC, he beat the man.

He only lost one fight. Everyone knows he got robbed in the first fight. So that makes him 4-1.

Shogun should fight Forrest. I still can't believe he lost to him

You mean Pacquiao vs. Mayweather is boxing's version of Shogun vs. Silva.

No. Not even close. Pac/PBF is UFC 100 x 20.

Machida got KTFO by a much better and exciting fighter.

Shogun= Hyper aggressive, exciting, humble, well liked fighter. P4P top 5. Pacquiao

Silva= Hyper talented, safety first, controversial, cocky fighter. Mayweather.

Wait... are you suggesting Shogun vs. Silva is a better fight than Mayweather vs. Pacquiao?

To you it very well may. However, even though I would anticipate the Pac/Mayweather fight a little more than Silva/Shogun, this no way diminishes the Shogun/Silva. This is a hugely intriguing fight with 2 of the best in the business. "Shits on" is a bit harsh.

Shogun still has some challengers at 185 to deal with first...they are good fights...maybe he makes a couple of defences before they think about that....there's Rampage, Rashad, Little Nog...maybe even Jon Jones. Silva has Sonnen, then maybe he could move up and fight an eliminator.

Silva-GSP, and fights as such (eg. BJ-GSP) make sense because both fighters have cleared their respective divisions out first. Lets see Rua prove himself as the very best at 185.

Why would Rua need to prove himself at 185??

On paper and in reality. Everyone will be picking PBF and with good reason, he will win an unexciting decision.

Shogun-Silva will probably be split down the middle with people maybe leaning toward Silva, and the fight will be one of the most intriguing fights in the sports history.

I know I'd certainly much rather see Shogun\Silva then Manny\Floyd.

I'm not even excited about Pac/Mayweather and makes no difference to me if it's made. I'll probably just decide to watch at the last minute like I did for Mayweather-Mosely.

Sometimes people have a tough time with things that are personal preference.

In terms of anticipation, I think I would lean well toward Pac-Floyd. In terms of where I would expect to see a better fight, I would lean heavily toward Shogun-Spider.

But it's all moot and it really points to my preference of MMA right now. There is a 100 times better chance that Rua-Silva happens.

I dont even think Rua/Silva is the Pac/Floyd of MMA. I think that is still Fedor/Brock IMO

I'd go with GSP/Anderson even though I think Anderson would have an easy time. It would be the top 2 guys in the sport.

I don't. Brock is too overrated. If Fedor beat him people would say, "big deal, he was 4-1 with wins over a shot Mir and old man Couture.

3 of silva's last 4 fights have actually been more unwatchable than the average Floyd fight.

Silva is hideous these days, by fuck I hope Shogun knocks him the fuck out if the fight happens.

Not only would Pacquiao against Floyd probably be a better fight, but it would be a much bigger event, and be FAR more significant historically.

If you prefer MMA, fair enough, but to act like Shogun - Silva would come anywhere near Pacquiao - Floyd in terms of significance and importance is just insane. Shogun - Silva is a good MMA fight, Pacquiao - Floyd is one of the biggest fights in boxing history. Not only that, but given what a boring turd Silva is these days, chances are it would be a pretty boring fight.

Good post. Of the four fighters mentioned, Silva is by far the most unwatchable.

And Shogun lost to Forrest Griffen. Woooo, Shogun!!!
