Just wondering. I just joined up the other day, and I was wondering what's the story with this site? I believe I read somewhere on here that it used to be another site, or another TWO sites or something....

What's the deal? What did it used to be called? Who owned it then and now? What happened to it that it hasn't been updated in so long.

I look forward to helping in any way I can in getting it back up and running. Just wondering what the story was.

It all started when a little fat Mexican man spilled some burrito sauce all over himself and decided he needed an outlet to whine about it

its a really boring story that I couldn't be bothered to get into. I'm sure someone else will fill you in.

Site was set up by Carlos Guzman (Cupey Alto) in late 2002 after SecondOut shut down. He went to boxingfanatics, got banned, so decided to set up fightworld.us in retaliation. Eventually changed the domain to fightbeat.

Used to have lots of writers, video, radio show, lots of updates. Things went pear-shaped and he decided to sell the site, about 20 times, but nada.

The last time stuck and a group of us bought it, that was a few months ago.

Cupey tried lots of things, there was that video download subscription site - which was very welcome before filehosting websites became so common, the t-shirts (still have two lying around somewhere), some good writers...the problem was sustaining any of these efforts

Yeah this site had a head of steam up when Jake and Garfield were active, plenty of content, credentials, shirts and merchandise etc. Cupey did good for a bit.

Don't forget about the invasion of the boxingtime savages, who came in, interbred, and sent most of the shit fleeing off to Maxboxing,.. after this evolution, Fightbeat became the best board on the internet,.. and although we've suffered some opressive tyranny, like the infamous 'Knock it off' regiume,.. I think it was Steven,.. who rose to power as our first 'socialist' president,.. and things have been pretty good and stable ever since.

Yeah that's true. When did that happen and how the hell did you find this dump? I was on both boxing.com and boxingtime but was not very active.

A poster called 'Ocaz' had dual citizenship to Boxingtime and Secondsout,.. and he encouraged me to join up quite early on in the piece when Fightworld was born, along with several others I'm sure, so most Boxingtimers were using Fightworld as a B-side forum,.. then when the administrator, 'Jason' had the last of his bazerk mania's "99% of you have never even seen the homepage!" ....... .........and started culling people one by one, most of us jumped ship before it sank,.. except Latinking, who I spotted was a loyalist to the very end god bless him,..

Latinking: "I'm still here, what's goin' on?" ,... poor soul, all on his own before the server went dead.

You're right I screwed up there. Kind of like you did when you used your (again) instead of you're and no instead of not. So my advice to you is if you're going to correct someone for a mistake double check your own post before you hit submit. The worst part of all that is you probably did.
