What a f*cking idiot. If he spent more time training instead of imitating and being funny, he might not get his ass kicked so much.

Severn was the man, the guy's record is ridiculous, I can't believe he still fights.

Tom Lawlor is an idiot though.

Severn was like a wide tree stump that moved forward.

Very hard to hurt. It was funny seeing guys throw vicious kicks at him while he merely moved his arms seemingly without even bracing to block them.

That's really Shamrock's only decent win. I thought Dan was going to handle him.

i thought shamrock clearly defeated gracie. that was when there was no scoring system and all matches ended in a draw if it exceed the time limit.

true. gracie bitched out and retired soon after.

shamrock's resume isn't stellar, but nevertheless, he was a pioneer and had impressive wins over rutten, severn, kimo and mo smith along w/ few folks from japan whose name i can't remember.

his rematch vs. severn was also bullshit. i remember they changed some ruling right before the fight because the illinois commission or some authority figure wouldnt allow striking to the head or something.

I dont remember the rule change, i just remember them circling each other for 30 minutes. Wasnt it something like the Ultimate Ultimate Championship something. Fuck i dont remember i just know i was bored and they gave the fight to severn for actually making one attack on shamrock.

the thing about UFC then was that Ken Shamrock was about the only fighter who was anything close to what's now labeled as an MMA fighter.

gracie and severn were true experts in their own game, but shamrock was just a pro-wrestler in japan who learned how to 'catch-wrestle' from other pro-wrestlers.

even frank shmarock, i think he took up on mma when he was in his early-mid 20s. he subbed dan henderson in some obscure 'real wrestling' ppv but nevertheless, it was quite impressive considering henderson had world class wrestling experience and he succumbed to a manaeuver which he'd never encountered.

or looking back at shamrock vs. severn, severn was the much bigger guy and had great greco background, but he got sucked into a front headlock by a non-wrestler and had to submit to a guillotine choke. whether their strength was attributed by roids or not, both ken and frank were special athletes w/o any true disciplinary sport as their background.
