Yes it makes no sense to roll out of the ring to steal a world title, this kind of corruption just does not happen in boxing because it just doesn't, it is out of the realm of my imagination, who on earth would do such a thing?.. Cintron is a nice guy, he smiles.

It wasn't much of a risk. The table was right there by the ring. It isn't like he flung himself to the floor outside the ring. He landed on the table right outside the ring that was about the same level as the ring floor.

And for those finding this so far fetched, never underestimate the power of cowardice. If it were any other fighter save maybe Clottey and Judah, I would have my doubts but Cintron? Nah, I don't put this past him at all. Like I said it was a fucking shock to me that he even accepted a fight with Williams to begin with.

True,.. if you check out an old MMA fight,.. Bas Rutten against Frank Shamrock,.. the way they pile drived out of the ring, plummeting deeply to the floor below, they should be irrepairably wounded to this day, based on the Cintron apologist principle of severity,.. instead they both hopped back into the ring within 10 seconds. Cintron rolled across the top of some monitors, how devistating,.. so much more vicious than being punched in the head by another pro-boxer for 12 rounds.

Exactly, wtf, what are people thinking? It was a mild tumble at best, not like he dropped 20 feet onto concrete floor on his head, for fuck's sake.

Almost any other boxer would have fucking bounced back up and continued, shit I bet half the guys on this site would have got back up and continued after a little fall like that

It is possible to do some serious damage in pretty innocuous circumstances....you see it happen in sport though it wasn't the case here

After watching the fight again, I'm pretty sure I could put the pressure on Kermit and stop him.

Can't believe anyone would buy Cintron's act. The man has a vagina and it pisses me off that he earned God knows how many $ with that shit. Everyone hates Margarito now but I still keep a warm heart to him for making this bitch fold down and cry like he did.

Have you seen the Bas Rutten - Frank Shamrock fall Mex?.. It's pretty funny seeing them spring back into the ring after that,.. compared to Cintron who rolled over a monitor and laid silently stiff like he'd been paralised.

Anybody remember this? Dempsey crawled back into the ring and proceeded to beat the piss out of Firpo.

    ahhhh great point.

i really do think there is a good case to be made that Cintron fell out of the ring and tried to act hurt to get an easy way out.

but the assertion that he launched himself out of the ring is absurd and it degrades us all as boxing fans

hell remember when Echols clobbered Brian Barbosa and sent him out of the ring tumbling? Barbosa was visibly stunned and confused, and couldnt beat the 20 count that was administered - but he didn't get carted off on a stretcher

I think it was a stupid split second display of dramatics that backfired when he knocked the wind out of himself a little bit, the doctor over-reacted and the fight was stopped.

Should have been a no contest with an immediate rematch, damn the cali rules.

Neither guy should be claiming they won that fight.

Cintron is clearly a fuck-up though. :nono:

This is exactly why it is so absurd for anyone to maintain the "manual ejection" (TM) theory. If Cintron is such a coward, then please explain to me without bias and without interjecting personal dislike for Cintron why he ever takes the fight in the first place? If he is so incredibly cowardly, and so immersed in terror of Paul Williams (who has BTW been beaten by Quintana, beat up by Margarito, not the greatest puncher, and getting chinny with each passing fight) that he would willingly throw his body to the mercy of the steel tables & monitors outside the ring... then why the fuck would he ever sign the fight in the first place?

I have not yet seen even one reasonable explanation for these theories. Not one.

Even if one were to somehow twist their developing pretzel logic into thinking that Kermit Cintron only feels paralyzing fear during the 4th round of fights as opposed to the negotiating table or the previous 3 rounds, it still makes no sense that he would try to get out of THIS fight in THIS way. It is not a fight of such magnitude that Cintron can retire with a payday, so fuck it, he can sign the fight and quit a millionaire. Much bigger paydays await for a CLEAN victory. Far better from the money angle to stay in the ring. IMO he was winning the fucking fight.

Also, even if he gets the win by decision in such a pathetic way as might have happened here, he doesn't GET any big future paydays because his stock goes DOWN amongst fans and the general demand to see him goes down. This "win", had it happened, would not have done any good whatsoever for Cintron, and in fact would probably have mandated an immediate rematch at which point Cintron would have to face 12 more "terrifying" rounds with Williams instead of just 8 more had he stayed in the fight.

The people arguing a Cintron "manual ejection" are being about as brutally nonsensical as I have ever seen here on Fightbeat. You cannot come at this from any angle and explain this with any sane rationale. I realize that people have strong negative feelings toward Cintron, and hate is just part of fandom. You can't really be a passionate boxing fan and not have at least somebody out there you can't stand.

But does it really need to develop into this crazy shit? Even if everything conspiratorial about Cintron is true, and he is a bizarrely brave person who makes tough fights, then gets all afraid in the ring and needs to quit, why not just initiate a headbutt and claim you can't see out of one eye? This is easy to do, has worked in the past, gets the same result, and is not completely and astronomically idiotic like throwing your body to the wolves.

Well Outlander, see this bit, had he stole the fight, which I'm very inclined to believe he tried to, he'd have been awarded the paper-belt, he'd have been the champion, so by this particular sanctioning body rules, if a rematch is ordered to fight Williams, and it comes down to a purse split, he'd have to get the lion's share wouldn't he?,.. unless Paul tosses his hands up in the air and says fuck you, goes elswhere, leaving the title with Cintron to milk as he pleases,..
All this,..............when had the fight gone 12 rounds or less, he could have lost, leaving this lucrative position a mere dream, and no hope of another rematch/payday either. So I might just reckon he had plenty of incentive to go for this prize as a pre-fight plan,...

exactly, to claim he had no reasons to try to snatch a win this way is retarded. Look at Luis Santana, whether he faked or not, the general consensus is that he was a coward. yet, he made more than he could evere dreamed by winning this way

no need to look at a crappy unwatchable tape to find an example of this happening. 250 lbs journeyman Zuri Lawrence was knocked out of the ring in the 6th vs Rahman but still continued and lasted till the 10th ( or he lost a decision, can't remember ). The fall was far more devastating than Cintron's fall and he's a far bigger man so it should hurt more. No doubt Cintron's faked, he has no injury, you don't react the way he did unless you're seriously injured or if you want out of the fight

I actually answered this question in an earlier post of mine. I think Cintron overrated his performance in the Angulo fight. It could also be he just wanted a big payday. If you look at Clottey and Paul Williams they pretty much match up on paper about the same excluding their ability to win. So taking that into consideration does it really make sense that Cintron seems petrified of Clottey yet accepted the fight with Williams? Cintron seems to me like a guy who actually believes in himself when he's in the gym, giving an interview, or just walking down the street. Yet you put him in that ring and the hard competition starts punching back, I think he breaks down and panics. So I think maybe he thought he could beat Williams right up until the punches started flying.

This is true, however during a panic attack the only thought on one's mind is to clear the fear. In Cintron's case this could be where he gets himself out of the fight. He isn't thinking 3 months down the line or about his career. It also doesn't matter that he was winning the fight, it only matters that he probably wasn't comfortable being in the fight. Cintron is such an unnatural fighter that the constant thinking of what he has to do before he does it probably makes things much more scary for him then your average boxer and probably puts a lot of self doubt on him when he's in the ring.

Like I said he wasn't thinking down the line. Had the case come up where he had to rematch Williams he could have either said he already beat him and was satisfied with the victory (ducked it) or he could have just accepted the extra payday it would have granted him. Also Kauki said he would have won a belt.

For the record I don't hate Cintron, at all. Simply telling something how I see it no matter how negative that may be does not mean I hate him. Also, you can't assume that every fighter out there has that warrior mentality and will fight to the end. There are fighters out there who have often looked for ways out of fights and shown complete cowardice. You have Gainer quitting against Marquez, Judah quitting against Clottey, Clottey nearly quitting against Margarito and Cotto not to mention his non-effort against Pacquiao, Golota against several guys and a host of others. So let's not assume fighters don't actually try to get out of fights for whatever reason, it does happen.

I think Cintron saw an opening during the tripping fiasco and took it. I don't even think he really had time to totally think about what he was doing I think it happend so fast he just did it. I don't think during the fight he was thinking I need to figure a way to to get out of this I think when Paul tripped he saw his chance and this is when he acted. Of course all this is merely speculation on my part. Whether he actually tripped or threw himself out the ring is all moot. What I'm certain of is that he didn't want to continue the fight. That I would put money on if I could. It's not so much me not liking Cintron or even being a big conspiracy theorist, it's just that Cintron has always appeared to be the type of guy who'd actually do this type of thing.

Sorry guys but this just dosent add up. Before the debacle Cintron was out boxing Williams fairly easily and even hurt him a few times. Why in the world would Cintron throw a fight he was winning? I also want to add Cintron was in no danger at that point either. I could see if how this can be suspicious if Cintron was getting his ass handed to him but this was not the case. Williams legs were gone before Cintron flew out of the ring.

plus, if Cintron thought like Hex-One, he knew the rules and thought the tech. decision would go his way. So it's Hex-One post who makes no sense. Cintron didn't threw the fight, he faked an injury because he thought he'd get the win. If not, explain me why he acted the way he did, for that long of a period, when he has no serious injury. Hell, he had no injury at all. It's obvious he faked

it could be Cintron is just a drama-bitch and an attention whore and liked the idea of the whole crowd holding their breath at the possibility that he were severely injured. there's plenty of athletes who act like they're hurt really badly and then get up and go right back to playing. you see it in basketball and you see it in football all the time.

I don't think the two stories are necessary conflicting. I also know that whereas Cintron has a reputation to protect, so too does the doctor.

Believe it or not, I would like to see a rematch. Whether he quit or not, Cintron must regret it now.

Didn't see this post earlier, but it pretty much confirmed what nearly everyone with common sense se suspected, Cintron faked to get out of the fight, probably because he thought he'd get the tech. decision.

I think the people saying Cintron planned this are reaching.

I can understand the perception that Cintron breaks down mentally during fights but that doesn't make him a coward.

The guy rematched Margarito when he didn't have to. Same result but he got in there again. If he was such a bitch he just wouldn't bother.

Same with this Williams fight. He wouldn't have bothered to make it to begin with.

I saw the fight againt he other night and I think it was even after 4 rounds. There is nothing about that fight that tells me Cintron wanted a way out.
