Just read that final numbers were 1.4 millions and that overall Floyd pocketed $45,000,000. That's a shitload of money. Didn't Pacquiao made like 15-20 millions for the Clottey/Cotto fights? It doesn't seems to me like Pacquiao has the best of deals with Arum IMO.

From Thomas Hauser's article on Mayweather....

Ticket sales were a bit disappointing. Ultimately, the attendance on fight night was 15,117, which meant that a thousand tickets went unsold. But during fight week, the buzz was that Mayweather-Mosley would do huge pay-per-view numbers. HBO believed that Floyd had developed an “anchor fan baseâ€￾ among urban African-Americans. And Mayweather-Marquez (which drew poorly at the gate) had engendered 1,080,000 pay-per-view buys.

No one took Schaefer seriously at the final pre-fight press conference when he said, “Our goal is to break four million buys.â€￾ But 1,500,000 seemed like a realistic number, which would have pushed Mayweather-Mosley past De La Hoya-Trinidad into second place on the all-time buy list for non-heavyweight fights.

Mayweather (who had a US$22,500,000 guarantee plus an upside) was telling people, “I should walk away from this with about sixty million.â€￾ Mosley had a guarantee of $5,500,000. As of this writing, it appears as though the pay-per-view number will settle in at between 1,100,000 and 1,200,000. That’s impressive, but might not be enough to give either fighter more than his guarantee.

Bottomline is that boxing in 2010 revolves around

    Floyd "Money" Mayweather

I say good for Floyd...if Golden Boy is that stupid to guarantee him that much money then good for him. I wish his guarantee were $32 million.

Golden Boy couldn't have come out that well on this fight...with all the money they spent on marketing plus the guarantees...they had to have had a slim profit margin. I'd heard they'd had a slim profit margin on mayweather-marquez due to the marketing expenses. From what I gather they spent more this time around to have a similar result in PPv sales.

As said...good for Floyd...was smart to get the guarantee...especially considering Golden Boy took back part of his purse from the Marquez fight because they paid off his tax debt.

If it hurts Golden Boy...I ain't mad.

    What's a reasonable expectation for a Mayweather-Pacquaio fight? 2 million, 2.8 million, double that of Mayweather-Mosley?

Mayweather-Pacquaio is THE fight to be made, where all the financial sense lies. It's the fight for this GENERATION. If Mayweather made $40 million for the Mosley fight, can he make over $75 million for a Pacquaio fight?

What could IMPEDE a FIGHTER for wanting to make that kind of money, and for cementing his legacy for all eternity in fight where he has all the PHYSICAL advantages? :dunno:

Is it being asked by the ruling body or Commission? WHY put obstacles in the way of making all that money and being remember for generations to come?

Obviosuly you don't want none or don't care if the fight is ever made. If Mayweather fails to COMPROMISE, it proves al along he is AFRAID to lose to Pacquaio which is INSANE. He has reach, size, speed and strength advantages over the Filipino.

NOTHING has changed since March 13th, in terms of marketability and public demand for this fight.

It's not like they are asking Manny to fight blindfolded. Take the damn tests, dispel all doubts and KO PBF.

yeah, but the tests would affect pacquiao, and would not affect floyd. pacquiao seems to be allergic to syringes, latex, alcohol, and lab technicians, so the blood test should not take place *cough* PED *cough*, because it will give floyd an edge

I like the "Mayweather is bigger than me so taking blood from him will affect him less" reasoning.

damn! 1.4 mill exactly! amazing how that works out. we'll see if it generated more ppv dollars than trinidad-delahoya. based on the price it probably did, making it the second highest grossing non heavyweight ppv of all time.

    what the fuck is telco?

1.4 million is a great number. I can imagine Mayweather/Pacman making a lot more. Not to mention it being a more competitive fight.

Mayweather-Pacquiao should give a serious challenge Mayweather-De La Hoya for the all-time PPV record.

Given how shitty most of the largest PPV fights in history have been, I just hope the fight turns out to be competitive and entertaining.

Not sure about all roads. If we're talking about making the most money then yeah. But if Floyd retires like he did for a couple years, boxing will still be fine.
