You missed "The last time andy lost, it was at the Mohegan Sun Casino...tonight Andy will be hoping that was the last of the mohegans" Thiam quitting was just compared to sonny liston not getting off his stoll to face Ali...farce over anyhow
"he's 38....nothing to do with age...if he was 21...it could have ended the same..."....Jimmy Magee. "This contest is stopped in the 2nd round, due to a back injury, Ladies and Gentlemen, the official result....is about to be announced, do stay where you are.....Mamadou has informed me it is a back injury....ladies and gentlemen, the referee will now raise the arm of Andy Lee, the winner of this contest".:bangh::bangh::bangh::bangh:
Brian Peters: "Andy has had enough of hard fights....he was entitled to an easy one". Manny Steward: "....Andy always went off in a circle.. Lets move on to a championship fight......"
ha, i've never seen someone so depressed about a 1st round knockout as Liam Walsh...he's really gutted it didn't go 5 or 6! Saunders and De Gale got better billing, but Gavin and Walsh both look more complete.
I'll hold my hands up, I called that totally wrong, Katsidis is a bad ass, all respect to him. :bears: However, it's always fun to hear the Upton Park crowd silenced ::
The only other notable fight on the Irish card was that the Irish-based Cuban Heavyweight Mike Perez fought twice on the same night, two stoppages against two weak journeymen. Was travelling on train South with some lads from Crumlin boxing club some months ago, apparently Perez is fairly mobile but doesnt really have HW power, he's more like a blown up cruiser
It looked like man against boy in there. Gavin looked pretty good, slightly early stoppage but he was bashing him up anyway. DeGale is very talented, he'll go far but he needs better opponents. Williams was shot as fuck but he's provided some great nights, all the best to him for the future.
As an Englishman, I should be peturbed by Mitchell being absolutely waxed tonight. But I'm not. No matter how hard I tried, I simply couldn't pull against Katsidis once that fight started. As one of the few people who had heard of and was a fan of Kat BEFORE the Casa debacle, watching him win a big(ish) fight gives me more pleasure than cheering on another talented but over-protected Werren fighter. Seriously, though- sparring in the dressing room before the fight? That was some of the very best shit I've seen in all my years of watching this sport. Kat is beatable but only by the best. Against anyone else, he is a monster. War Katsidis! MTF :cheer:
Haha, yea the sparring bit was awesome ::, I'm definitely more of a fan after this, top bloke too. Feebs what did you make of DeGale?
yeah i agree...i've never taken to Mitchell as a person, whereas Katsidis is a class act...his attitude is tremendous, he seems to love it here.
Mitchell is a decent salt. At least when he got stopped he didn't look like a newborn gazelle that had been shot in the head with a stun-gun and then given some really really bad news.
Mate, I thought he was okay tonight against a game but completely powderpuff opponent. As is always the case with Werren fighters, he is being brought along at an absolute snails pace. Don't let that guy's record fool anyone- he was a regional level fighter and no more. Meanwhile, George Groves is winning Commonwealth baubles...:: The best prospect IMHO is CLEARLY Frankie Gavin. He has a hell of a lot of tools and needs to be brought on a lot quicker IMHO. MTF
