Reason for ranking Carwin ahead of Brock ? Going 1-1 with Mir and beating an old 205 pounder doesn't really impress me. Surely not as impressive as being undefeated. All first round stoppages. Knocking Gonzaga the fuck out with one single shot and DESTROYING Mir in less than a round.

I'd agree with this, I could see an arguement for putting Overeem higher, but anywhere from 3 to 5 is right IMO.

    THIS!!!...

Carwin Very Well MIGHT B Better than Lesnar, but Until that's PROVEN, Brock Deserves the # 2 Slot...

This is true. Also, Brock has 1 more quality win in Herring and has never been in danger yet like Carwin vs. Gonzaga. So for now, its Brock.

However, I do give Carwin a GREAT shot at beating him.

Brock was in a little more than 'danger' the first time around vs. Mir.

Sure, Lesnar LOST that Fight, but he was Whipping Mir's Ass for EVERY SECOND of that Bout UNTIL the Leglock...

This is true. Really hard to judge these guys since their resumes are so limited. I don't think that it will be long before Brock loses again. He has very limited striking, and we havent even seen him off his back. I think the gas tank can be an issue as well.

That, and he's coming off a year of inactivity, during which it was reported that he lost a ton of weight and almost died.

It'll be really interesting to see. Brock needs to be explosive to overcome the more experienced guys.

This is why Carwin is ahead of Brock on my list.He has less question marks than Lesnar...and plus Lesnar hasn't fought a real standup fighter yet.Carwin's fought all styles.

    1- Ferdor
    2- Carwin
    3- Brock
    4- Overeem
    5- JDS

Velasquez is good but is too small imo for the big hw. Would anyone really pick him vs big guy's like Overeem or Carwin ????

Because Overeem is fresh in their minds from last night. But he isn't a Top 5 fighter.

I just don't understand how beating Brett Rogers catapults a guy into the top 5 when there is nothing else in recent history that points to the guy belonging there.

I may be wrong, but I'm gonna rank Fedor, Lesnar and the 3 undefeated UFC contenders in Carwin, Junior and Cain ahead of Overeem.

Oddly enough, Lesnar is the guy I would be more likely to move down because of inactivity.

most rankings had Rogers in their top 10 at HW. Not sure I would, but the way Overeem beat him was very impressive, so lets not take that away from him. Like TFK, I want to see Overeem fight again this year, not 2 years from now. I also think SF needs to capitolize on their HW division. Its limited, but the matchups are there. The loser of Fedor/Werdum needs to fight Bigfoot. Overeem needs to fight the winner of Fedor/Werdum. I would have no problem with a rematch between Rogers and AA. They also need to bring on a few guys even some journeymen to fill out the division. There are fighters out there, go get them. Sign some up and comers from smaller local orgs. make it happen.

Agreed. I wouldn't have had Rogers on my top 5 ever so Overeem isn't moving in to the top just yet. He's got some work to do in MMA before much changes. K-1 fights don't count towards MMA rankings.

They aren't supposed to count but they definitely seem to influence many people's rankings. I wouldn't argue with someone saying Overeem ranks around #5, I would definitely have him in my top 10.

His only recent accomplishment is beating a timid Brett Rogers. Personally I think a win like the one Roy Nelson had against Struve was more impressive.

What did Lesnar accomplish then ? 1-1 against Mir ? Beat a small old Randy Couture? Or mauled everybody's favorite punching bag Heath Herring ?

Well, beating Herring, Couture and Mir in consecutive fights in dominant fashion is FAR better than anything Overeem has EVER done in his MMA career. It certainly blows away beating a shitty James Thompson, a 40 year old Fujita and a Brett Rogers who is coming off a crushing KO defeat.

And as I said, Lesnar would be the guy I'd move down just because of inactivity but I still wouldn't place Overeem ahead of him. Easily.
