He makes a couple of good points on why Pac-Mayweather may never happen and why a Pac-Margarito is more likely. <object height="385" width="480"> <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/hkrStmHgn3g&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" height="385" width="480"></object>
I cut it off as soon as he said he thought Pac-Marg could do better then 1/4 mill PPV's:laughing::laughing::laughing::laughing:
Since when Shane has one punch KO power and when was last time Shane took someone out with one Shot? Adrian Stone? Mayorga doesn’t count. I don’t see it playing out that way.
No problem with disagreeing with him but he does make a few good points about a possible match up between Margarito/Pacman.
I can see them selling 100,000 tickets which will break a few records but 1.4 M buys would be surprising. I don’t see it doing better than Pac-Cotto but who knows. maybe the Hispanic community will get behind margaritA...
Margarito will probably outbox Pacquiao. That's about as logical as you nimwits claiming Mayweather will beat Pacquiao because of his "size and strength"
is this Arum or what (can't see the vid)? if so, he has a personal grudge against PBF, would hate to be a party to PBF's making a lot of money, and wants to promote fights all his own. another reason i think promoters like to be the sole promoter is that their fighter measuring his take against that of another promoter's. instead, a promoter wants to his star to compare his take to his non-star (or alternate star).
I agree I also cant see it but like you mentioned it's possible. Anyone know how much Pac-Clottey made?
He is?? even if he is a bigger draw than Mosley,he isn't a bigger draw than Cotto...so it won't make 1.4
One thing you should not discount is Americas enduring love affair with the outcast scumbag. Billy The Kid, Bonnie and Clyde, basically thugs who captured the imagination. No reason why Margacheato cannot parlay some of that loaded-gloves bad blood into a few sales. I mean, he is fighting Pac, and public executions have always drawn a crowd. So no matter what, if they come to see him win, or lose, they will come to see him. Maybe not him per se, but the event involving him.
It would do around 650,000 PPV's. Considering Margarito got tore apart by the guy Floyd just completely dominated I would consider this a serious step down from Manny but I'm pretty sure the Pacquiaoheads would find a way to make it a great victory for Manny.
So NONE of them were there to See Sugar Shane, Huh???...REED is Mainly Arguing AGAINST Margarito Being Called a "Draw" @ ALL...If he Was, that Fight would've Been PPV, Especially when U Consider Shane's had PPV's w/Cotto, Floyd, Dela (2x) AND Vargas (2x)... THOSE Guys were DRAWS...Margarito ISN'T... REED:mj:
Id say at least 9 out of 10 ppl were at staples to see margarito. prior to margarito's loss to mosley he was clearly the most popular mexican. even his last fight drew what? 18,000+? im mainly arguing margarito is a bigger draw than mosley. even back when mosley fought marquez, more ppl were there to see margarito
Fine, but is it Safe to Call Margarito a "Draw" HIMSELF???...REED is Pretty Sure Cory Spinks Could OUTDRAW Winky Wright in St. Louis, but Does that Make Spinks a "Draw" HIMSELF???.... REED:hammert:
REED will Concede that Margarito is a Bigger "Draw" than Mosley...But REED is Arguing AGAINST the Notion that Margarito is a Self Contained "Draw" HIMSELF... F.Y.I., REED Thinks JM Marquez was MORE Popular than Margarito, Even PRIOR to the Mosley Loss... REED:mj:
Margarito may be a bigger live gate draw, but I doubt that he is a bigger PPV draw than Mosley. This fight shouldn't even be getting discussed unless it's being used as a negotiation tool in the Manny-Mayweather negotiations.
That's a fair point... and there could even be a strong boycott movement because of Margarito's recent reputation. I, for one, wouldn't order it. And I ordered Jones/Hopkins II*. :: *I was really sick that night, couldn't get off the couch. There was nothing else on TV and I was so f'n bored.
Oh I know. It was a moment of weakness. Anything would have been better. On the bright side, it was a fun undercard.
I'd hate to see it happen. Margarito should currently be in prison --- the idea of him receiving a substantial payday on the back of Pacquiao's popularity & the curiosity-factor of such a bout is sickening to me.
Going from how he has looked in his last 2 fights that would way very very doubtful. The fight would be at 147... That wouldn't help much either.
