I'll just be happy to see him finally fight someone different. I'd like to see him in the mix though with Caballero and JuanMa and Gamboa. Even a fight with Chris John wouldn't be bad. Maybe he could avenge his brother.

He is better. In 3 short rounds, despite a monstrous cut, I could tell he was. Not sure WTF royjonesfag4fag is laughing about....

Marquez beat the shit out of Vazquez. Your eyes must be as bad as Vazquez's.

Marquez was outstanding! In a way, the fact he took Vazquez apart so quickly will sadly detract from the show he was putting on. He was going to win that fight if it went twenty-five rounds.

This victory, & I expected Marquez probably would make it as much, isn't as hollow as I expected it would feel. Don't get me wrong --- it was never going to be quite the same importance as its predecessors, but my real concern now is the way people will dismiss it.

You are a champion, Rafael. Great show!

I like marquez but let's face it, he was fightin a guy who who was ready to open up instantly

Agreed, but no one can deny him his precision as a puncher. What do you think he should be doing next? Prepping for Lopez, or even John? Time runs short, in truth --- Marquez has to use whatever momentum will come from this to spear-head the closing stages of his career.

I saw lopez here ringside at the fight so I'm guessing that bout could easily materialize if marquez so chooses. I think lopez would stop marquez@this point but It may be the best dolars

I'd be excited to see it. Fantastic fight, two great punchers, & a payday, like you articulated. If Marquez could better him, a fight with John could shape as a great career-ender, IMO. I'm probably getting ahead of myself, though.

Oh my God did these Mexican legends just go two-for-two....there is nothing between them!! It's too close to call!! An all time great rivalry, it has to be!!! Quick, open the books! Open the books!!!

Vazquez wasn't dropped by the Cut, he was getting hurt to the body as well as the head. Hey, he's a game warrior, and he'll fight on until his skin is shreaded to paper, but I'm not so sure I want to see that. Give it a go against someone a lot less than Rafael Marquez and see what happens, he'll likely open up again and call it a day, but I question anyone who'd want to see a fifth fight. It'd just be Miguel Diaz trying to plug leaks, the 7.5 mins last night don't need to be repeated.

Nice win for Marquez. It may be fitting for such a great rivaly to end up even at the end, but while it's only been two years since their last fight, the other three came in succession and all were FOTY type fights.

This one may not exactly rival Hopkins-Jones II for after-the-factness, but sort of along those lines.

Of course, if Vazquez is more used up after the first three fights than Marquez was, perhaps Rafael should get due credit for that.

Nope. A fight cannot be FOTY where one man quits on his stool.

Well, first I said a candidate...and you sure you want to make that claim without doing some research first?

How many FOTY end with one man quitting on a stool??:nono:

Of course, Hatton vs Tszyu could never be a FOTY as it didn't involve good fighters to begin with. Vitali vs Byrd? Please. Clay-Liston? Please. More rubbish with LaMotta and Cerdan...another Euro Stool merchant.

And since when was it customary to introduce quitters as "Future HOF" material???

Agreed. i thought this 4th fight was ridiculous to begin with. I hope Vasquez will be able to take care of his family with his earnings. I don't want to see him fight again.

I had Mares up 116-112, but I had one close rd for Mares and one for Perez. The first few rds seem to be where the disagreement is...I had Mares winning most of them. Good fight and I think it was the type of fight where being ringside is important.

They do if they are getting the :shit: beat out of them.

Nope. Quitting is Quitting. And Mexican Legends are supposed to like being beaten up. They dont feel pain. They are legends.

I thought Tszyu was a great fighter.

Quit on his stool. The lad was soft.

In what context? Obviously, "great" needs defining from scenario-to-scenario.
