Sounds like a mismatch based on how Matt has looked recently versus how good Ricardo looked against Matt Brown his last time out.

By the way, this is added to a card that is already highlighted by:

    Silva-Sonnen
    Fitch-Alves
    Nelson-Dos Santos

I agree, he's fun to watch but clearly a limited fighter. I think he's get a lot of credit for his image of being some bad ass on the TUF show. He's no world beater by a long shot.

Matt Hughes and Matt Brown are not in the same league as fighters. Hughes would easily beat Matt Brown.

This card is shaping up to be one of the better ones of this year

I know I'm in the minority, but I don't think Hughes beats anyone easily at this point.

Matt Brown isn't elite by any means, but the way Ricardo beat him was impressive.

Almeida will destroy this hughes - I've always maintained Ricardo is an under rated fighter..

I don't think Hughes has anything to gain by this matchup.

it suprised me in the same aspect Joe. He will most likely lose and Almeida is still somewhat of an unknown to the casual fan. I think the UFC is trying to use up Hughes so they can cut ties with him.

This could be possible, but they could get another PPV headline or free TV main event (at worst) out of him. I don't think it's a good move but it isn't my call. Maybe they are really high on Almeida and want to give him a win over a name to boost him up to title contention. They must really be confident that he will win if this is the case.

I don't think the UFC will cut Matt Hughes. He'll probably have a job with them in some capacity for as long as he wants one.

True. Hughes, Liddell, Bonner and Griffin will always have a place in the UFC no matter how may naps they take on the Octagon floor.
