Diaz was wobbled by Paulie in the rematch. Marquez is gonna put him on his back once again.

Baby fat wobbled JMM pretty bad the first time around. Getting wobbled doesn't mean much.

I care, as Marquez is my man, & I have plenty of time for Diaz, & always have. That said, I would be devastated if he were to win. That simply cannot be allowed to happen --- as desperately as I acknowledge Diaz needs it to happen.

My projection is a late-stoppage for Marquez, circa the 10th. I actually think the champion will come out, on the back of the Mayweather catastrophe, & impressa lot of doubters.

1 of the More UNNECESSARY RE's in Recent Memory...Diaz has REGRESSED Since the 1st Fight & is CASHING OUT...Marquez is Looking to ReGroup Against a BEATABLE Guy, for 1 Last Run...

Marquez's CUSTOMARY Slow Start will 1nce Again Lead to Early Rounds Success for Diaz, but Given the FAMILIARITY, JMM will Find his Groove & STOP Diaz EARLIER than he Did Last Time...

Well, I don't have PayTV, so that's a non-issue. I'll watch it if it's at the local watering hole.

REED makes a great point regarding the prevailing point of view amongst media folks here that, do indeed believe Juan is cashing out and looking past boxing now.

I can tell you this much, from what I've been hearing, Juan will fight a different fight this time around, resembling his title winning effort vs. Lakva Sim, namely using his jab a lot and turning Marquez, punching and getting out.

I think the victory over Diaz first time actually took more out of Marquez as he took more sustained punishment that Diaz did.

I am planning to go to Savannah's and have a look at Juan in the near future when he starts sparring, and I'll have a better feel for the fight after I talk with him, and I am going to let him know that plenty of boxing folk do indeed think he's grabbing the most profitable fights in the window he has before he begins law school, and many think he has seen his best days as a world class fighter, but I expect him to be ready and in peak form for this one.

P.S. THE NSAC JUDGES LOVE DIAZ IN VEGAS

We have all seen what they think of Marquez, and that spells bad news for JMM if the fight goes the limit and is close at the end.

Marquez knock him out earlier than the 1st fight.....pointless fight...IMO..

Marquez has slipped and is very, very overrated, imo. He's a bottom half champ at this point p4p, imo. Diaz has seemingly slipped from where he was, too.

The winner will be called out by everyone because it will be a big payday and a very winnable fight for anyone with a pulse.

The winner has to fight Katsidis. I'll be pulling for Kat.... the guy deserves a world title already.

How long have you held that viewpoint?

Katsidis is very likeable, within & beyond the ropes. Likewise, Diaz, IMO. I would cheer for either against every other Lightweight out there...with one obvious exception. I would love to see Marquez win this, then go ahead & proceed with defeating Katsidis, too.

Were Marquez not champ, I, too, would like to see a deserving, committed fighter like Katsidis win the title. I actually thought he would've beaten Casamayor in a rematch at the time, but it wasn't to be, & now Marquez holds the hammer.

  23. Mitchell Kane

Mitchell Kane WBC Silver Diamond Emeritus Champ

I agree Marquez has slipped, somehow I expect to see Marquez-Morales.

I think I said it right after the Casamayor fight (since I thought Katsidis showed that Casa was slipping). The Juan Diaz fight really showed it. The Floyd fight did zero to change anyone's mind.

I'd guess that fight's been attributed primarily to Floyd (and secondarily to the weight) than his slipping.

But his past performances do show it.

I wouldn't say it's a pointless fight. They had a FOTY candidate last year and are both coming off of loses. Both guys are top 10 at 135 and can sell tickets. It shouldn't be on PPV is the only critisism that i have of it.
