Physical size is something all together different than speed, power and skill. That's why they have weight classes. And it's why some fighters, like PBF, prefer to look south of their own weight division for opposition.

This thread is a misguided attempt to make a point where there isn't one.

I think what you may be trying to say , is that there is subtext beneath each question, or a particular point that was trying to be made by asking it.

I think we kind of get in essence the subtextual spirit that this thread's question is attempting to achieve. (although it's misguided).

So what do you think that subtext would be in the question "Who is bigger/ stronger @ 147", and why do you find it so challenging/ upsetting?

Despite your ATTEMPTS @ Portraying Yourself as "Objective", U've CLEARLY & CONSISTENTLY Planted your "Flag" on the Pacquiao Side of Things...

U CRITICIZE Floyd for Demanding that Pac Undergo Random Testing & Afford Pac EVERY Conceivable BENEFIT of the Doubt, Despite GROWING Suspicion...& NOW, After Pac has Given In on the Demands (Somewhat), U Start a Thread that's BLATANTLY Attempting to DENIGRATE Floyd's Win Over Pac Before it Even Transpires (if, If, IF It Even Transpires)....

Basically, U've Pulled what REED Refers to as a "Double L"...U BITCHED about the Fight when it Looked like it WASN'T Gonna Happen, but Now that it Looks like it MIGHT Happen, U're ALREADY Preparing your Excuse So as NOT to Give Floyd ANY Credit, if/when he Actually BEATS Pac...

& Just like Double L, U're ARROGANT Enough To Actually Think that the TRANSPARENCY of your Stance ISN'T There...Your Thread was LAME, TIRED & CLEARLY AGENDA DRIVEN...

But REED GuaranFUCKINGtee's U'll ACT as if it WASN'T...

How does pointing out that PBF is bigger & stronger an Attempting to DENIGRATE a possible victory over Manny.
Why would the fact that PBF is bigger & stronger than Manny take detract from the hypothetical victory?

REED face the fucking facts - PBF has a size advantage over Pacquiao, just as Ruiz did over RJJ.

PBF could quickly deal with this problem by facing and beating Pacquiao and then face a real sized welterweight. Let's see if he can (or will).

REED, does it haunt you ever that you seem to gravitate towards rooting for those fighters who just don't seem quite comfortable doing what most pro athletes do - that is, take on the best opposition there is?

But what use is 'size' in this particular fight? .. does it imply that Fraud is stronger?.. and let's say if Fraud was 'stronger'.. how does strength translate into an advantage for Floyd in the boxing ring.... Does Manny have to be careful of being cornered and outslugged on the inside?... does he have to avoid at all costs trading with Floyd?.. Will Floyd's size and strength be able to absorb Pacquiao's shots compared to the contrary?.. .....................Hell no,.. ......hell.......no,...............not from the latest displays of evidence...

I'd have agreed with you if we're talking about Pacquiao fresh off his contraversial victory to Marquez a few weights below.... but now??.... ho ho ho... christ... this is a brand new, man-made monster.

Ok so from our latest poll results we gather that Floyd is a bigger fighter and Manny is faster, hits harder and will pose lots of problems for Mayweather with his southpaw stance... This is looking like an excellent match, I'm sure both Manny's fans and Floyd's fans are liking their fighter's chances. Hopefuly the fight gets announced soon. If not don't worry Pacquiao fans, I'm sure Arum will have a fight made 1 day later in Dallas.

Are we reduced to "Off the shelf" replies now REED?
    -Too bad.

Look. First I'll apologise for teasing you so much in this thread. I've been having a bit of fun at your expense.

Hopefully this will throw some light on the situation, & explain the "dumbness" of this thread. It's very simple actually, so I also apologise for the length of this reply.

It is a misguided reaction to a thread of mine asking a simple question:
    "Who is bigger/ stronger @ 147"?

I think that the main point that this thread, & that you, REED's are trying to make is roughly this:

Pointing out the fact that PBF is bigger & stronger shouldn't detract from a potential victory by PBF, over Manny.
I would imagine that the reasoning behind this is that size & strength advantages should not be viewed any differently from, say, the fact that Manny is a S.P.

Now you are misguided (as is this thread), simply because, if that's what you think I was getting at when I asked the question "Who is bigger/ stronger @ 147"?, you made an incorrect assumption.
You read a question, jumped to an incorrect conclusion, assigned a mistaken motivation & proceeded to get all heated up about it.

This thread is ironic in 3 ways:

1-It attacks my thread (and me), on the basis of a premise that I didn't make, & the very point that it makes against me I agree with anyway.
2-The existence of this thread & it's contents in a way actually strengthens (the very very simple) point that I was actually making by posing the question in the first place.
3-The fact that some are so defensive about somebody pointing out that PBF is bigger & stronger than Manny, subtly undermines the point that it shouldn't be seen as a detraction.

    • Now I posed the question "Who is bigger/ stronger @ 147"? for a very simple (yet entirely different) reason to the one you assigned to it & got so upset about.
The reason is that at least one person was in denial about it being true. That person has a very clear agenda, & as far as I am concerned is blinded by it.

You see there is a difference between having an opinion based on observation, and having an opinion an then interpreting (distorting) your observations to fit the opinion.

As far as I'm concerned, the fact that PBF is bigger/ stronger @ 147 than Manny is SO obvious, that the only way that you would fail to observe the fact is if you were interpreting (distorting) your observations to fit an opinion. In other words, if you were blinded by an agenda.

The agenda is simple "I have to make every observation of Manny fit with my opinion that he is on drugs" (paraphrased).
If I have to say that he has the (unnatural, drug induced), power of a light-heavyweight in order to fit my agenda, or deny emphatically that PBF is bigger & stronger than him @ 147 (I mean he couldn't be could he, Manny has unnatural drug-induced EVERYTHING), THEN I WILL.

    • Now the fact The existence of this thread & it's contents in a way actually strengthens (the very very simple) point that I was actually making.
Have you noticed that not only has my thread had an overwhelmingly in response in favour of PBF being bigger & stronger, also in the thread that was a misguided attempt to discredit it, that particular contention at no time was even questioned?
    It's just THAT obvious.

•The reason that it subtly undermines the point is that while some seem to be so sure that the fact PBF is bigger & stronger than Manny should not be viewed any differently from any other attribute (such as power, or being a S.P), they seem very reluctant to assign it any significance at all in the matchup.

Even though PBF obviously enjoys those advantages, & the fact that he does, shouldn't detract from a hypothetical victory, there's a real aversion to assign TOO much significance to it as an advantage.

It's as though they DO somehow see size and strength as different type of attributes. Not as deserving of the admiration reserved for others.

I mean, if I had made a thread saying "who has the better defense", do you think that it would have met with such a reaction?

The existence of this thread, it's contents & the aversion to assign TOO much significance to size and strength as an advantage seems to suggest that they are viewed differently by the very people who think they shouldn't be.

I think that this is because there may be "P4P" thinking lurking in the B/ground

However having said that I do accept the possibility that some may just genuinely see it as insignificant match-up wise. I just don't agree.

This thread, & your post(s) just failed to understand the very simple reason behind my earlier one, & I thought that I'd have some fun with it.

I apologise for the teasing. I'm over it now. You can have the last word

BTW, if you don't find any of this convincing, I'm sure that this chap:

    will vouch for my motivations

A guy fighting out of his natural weight class against another champion = OBVIOUS historical implications on how we weight the fight in both men's careers. Hopkins-DLH, Hagler-Duran, Ali-Foster, Sanchez-Gomez, Robinson-Maxim, Mayweather-De la Hoya, Armstrong-Ross, Charles-Louis/Marciano, Jones-Ruiz etc etc.

No 'agenda' in that. Beating bigger men is an achievement, beating smaller men much less so. Being slow, weak and right handed is not an achievement.

    Of Course it's Agenda Based...

On 1 Hand, Fans R DEMANDING that Floyd Face Manny Pac for the Sake of his "Legacy"...But On the Other Hand, U're ALREADY Telling REED that Beating Pac WON'T B Much of an Achievement for Floyd, Since Pac is SMALLER...

bottom line: equating speed and stance with size, as if both things should be treated the same is just stupid. especially considering boxing is organized around size, which is why we have weight classes.

It'll be the best win of his career! It'll be a great win regardless, just like Gomez was a great win for Sanchez, Hearns was a great win for Hagler, Charles was a great win for Marciano, Benvenutti, Griffith & Napoles were great wins for Monzon, etc etc. Pac is a baddass welterweight. It just won't be as significant an achievement as if Pac beats Floyd since Floyd is 2 weights naturally bigger. Just like all the dozens of historical fights where one dude was bigger than the other.

No agenda needed to acknowledge that.

    1. Floyd Is Clearly BIGGER than Manny Pac
    2. "Stronger" Remains to B Seen, in REED's Opinion...Was Miguel Cotto "Stronger" than Pac, Because it Certainly DID NOT Look like it in the Ring???....

    3. Floyd Mayweather IS Not & HAS Not EVER Been a PHYSICAL Fighter...So even IF Floyd is "Stronger" than Pac, it WON'T B a Factor in him Winning the Fight...

Did Floyd Beat Marquez Because he was Bigger & Stronger???...No...If U Actually WATCHED the Fight, Floyd's SKILL, TIMING & SPEED were the Reasons...It's NOT as if Floyd IMPOSED Himself on Marquez in a Manner that Illustrates PHYSICAL Superiority, ie., GREATER Strength...

A Certain Segment of this Site is Arguing from BOTH Ends...COMPLAINING that Floyd HASN'T Fought Pac, but then Preparing themselves to Give Floyd ZERO Credit in the Event of a Win, Based on SIZE...

Cummon dude. Ali didn't impose his physical strength on opponents either but he sure as hell wiped his ass with Bob Foster. If a guys bigger he hits harder than he would if he was smaller. So every shot he throws has more effect and is a greater deterrent to the offensive of the opposing guy. He takes shots better than he would if he was smaller so he is freer to open up offensively and impose his will. Size is an advantage in every and any fight. Not always the deciding advantage, but ALWAYS an advantage.

Frankly not acknowledging this obvious shit shows that you're the one with the agenda in this particular instance.
