The problem with this take, understandable as it is, is that it is based on how Vitali looks as a fighter. Since when you look at his style and attributes, he really should get beaten by average fighters even today. However he usually wins his fights without losing rounds, so it is difficult to prove that even past greats, say Holyfield or Holmes, had enough to overcome him. Maybe they would, maybe they don't, but to base the pick on what should be Vitali's weakness is iffy.

I have made the same comparison before: Cassius Clay was supposed to be an easy guy to beat for every good fighter of his time, since he didn't know the basics of defending, threw arm punches and had simple techniques. The results, there too, show otherwise.

Also, I still don't understand why his size is counted against him. Yes, he has physical advantages over many of his opponents. Just like Cassius Clay was taller, had more reach, greater reflexes and much more speed and movement over his opponents. Saying that 6'1 Vitali wouldn't be as good is the same as saying a slow-footed Clay wouldn't be anything to speak of

Your entitled to your opinion, white-rican,.. ,.. but only Lewis would be the confident lock there,.. the rest would be underdogs,..

Can't see it myself, mate. The Klits would have beat the crap out of 90's Foreman.

Lewis and Bowe would have been the real threats imo. Tyson and Mercer would have a chance but I'd favour the Klitschko's.

Sub 220lbs and former Cruiser, Evan Fields himself, had big George going.....if Alex Stewart could bash his face in, what is Vitali gonna do?

    1990's George has....ZERO chance.

    Vitali has better stamina
    Vitali has better chin
    Vitali throws better combinations
    Vitali has better punch output
    Vitali has better defense

    Wlad has better power
    Wlad has better speed

    Vitali is better

    Vitali also counter-punches.

Hey. Didn't mean to come off as a jerk. Just wanted to make the point that Vitali and Wlad are not the same fighter, as I'm sure you know.

But as you also know, many people have been unable to keep them straight.

Bowe had great talent, but wasn't as dedicated to his craft as Lennox was. So yea, in terms of achievement he might be overrated, but by pure size and talent he poses the Klits plenty of problems imo.

To the body. Off the ropes. Late in fights.

He is the better fighter. Period.

Little known fact is that Vitali and Bowe had a common opponent who was still relatively fresh when both men faced him.

    Herbie Hide.

Vitali definitely handled Hide a lot better.

And it gives a lie to the old claim that Vitali cannot punch.

I don't know if Bowe has quite got the brains to wreck Vitali's buzz.

True point about Hide, but as I pointed out in the MM forum previously, Hide was scared shitless against both of the two "super heavyweights" he faced. He done alot better against Bowe in the early going, probably because he was undefeated and fresh, coming off a career best performance and so on. Against Vitali he fought something like 3 rounds in 2 years before that fight, and had the Bowe fight in the back of his mind when it came to his previous performance against a guy who outweighed him by so much. The Vitali KO didn't seem to be a knockout punch. Personally I think Hide bottled it in that one, which is a shame as he actually started well and was following the right gameplan for a little guy fighting Vitali.

I do agree Vitali is heavy-handed however.

Hide was on the ground doing the Johannson....Leg and arm up in the air, twitching like mad.

I dont think the last right hand did him......but the left.

Vitali is like Julio Cesar Chavez in that everything he lands takes something out of you.

True about Hide's lack of activity, in fact BM ran article on him pointing out that Mike Grant had run up as many fights in the first few years of his career as had Herbie in total!

Hide suffered by being too good for Britain and not good enough for the World.

    He was also a cock.

:shit: Tyson, Bowe and Holyfield would be underdogs to the Klits brothers...

I could see Vitaly giving those guys a tough fight...maybe even beating Bowe if he caught him at the right time....

but Wladimir??? He would shit his trunks just being across the ring from Tyson, Holyfield was too much of a warrior for him...and Bowe would bully him...

Name the fight where Wlad has been intimidated. The fact that a guy has a soft chin and therefore he fights "scared" does not mean that he would freeze against an opponent, those are two completely different things.

Lewis and Bowe are the only guys I could see as favourite against Vitali, Bowe marginally and Lennox somewhat comfortably. The rest? All would be underdogs against Vitali imo.

Soft chin + Fighting Mike Tyson = Chances of lasting more than a few rounds vs. Tyson? POOR...Wladimir not been intimidated in the past doesn't mean he won't be when confronted with a fighting of Mike Tyson reputation...

Good defense + extremely good usage of reach = Chances of lasting the distance vs. Tyson? Pretty GOOD.

And by that "logic" it is just as plausible to say that Tyson would be scared when facing the hulking Wlad in front of him, and after tasting the jab he would probably quit (since the fact that he didn't do that is no proof that he wouldn't)

Buster Douglas was regarded before he fought Tyson in much the same light.

Good skills, no balls, no heart, no gas tank.

So you are hoping Wladimir gets lucky vs. TYSON...

if Wladimir could not survive 2 rounds vs. Sanders...what makes you believe he will survive it against Tyson....? even a mid 1990's Tyson...:dunno:

    BAD Comparison...

Buster Douglas' Mother had just DIED, his Wife had LEFT him & he was Faced w/the LIKELIHOOD of the Tyson Fight Being HIS LAST Opportunity to Illustrate that he WASN'T a Complete Waste of Talent...

42-1 Underdog, Douglas FOUGHT like he had NATHAN to Lose, which he Didn't...

Sure, Wlad's a MUCH Better Fighter than Buster Douglas, but U CAN'T just Ignore the INTANGIBLES in the Tyson-Douglas Bout...Would Wlad have RISEN from the Uppercut that DROPPED Douglas, Late in the Fight???

I actually thought it was a refreshing outburst,... you didn't crawl into the subject for an ulterior stabbing,.. you expressed your base motive on it's own after Dawson - Adamek,.. and I commend you for it,.. I knew of your inhibitions well before you said it, but you took away that silly thin veil and did it on your own, sure it was due to the compulsive uncontrolable excitement you were feeling at the time and not because you share the same philosophy as I do, but it was pleasant nevertheless, your a good pet.

:crafty::lol: You remember, you remember it like it was the flesh around Vida's pelvis,...you conceeded an insight,.. but your secret is safe Illuminati,.. what was actually more shocking is when you posted your sister's picture at the start of one of your round by rounds,..and.. she had the appearance of someone, rather filled pretty full of meditteranean genetics,.. coloured eyes too, I figured your frame of mind couldn't be contradictory of your actual genetical make-up but... I was wrong..:crafty: ,.......we live and learn......we, live, and learn....................
