from a boxing purist point of view, this is a shit fight. however from a marketing and promotional point of view, his handlers are trying to build up khan's name recognition in the US for bigger fights in the future. its a smart business move...

Well that's funny because I've read a publication where he states Khan would be his toughest fight, and that he would have to fight the perfect fight to beat him, hence the quote in my sig.

Again, there was a thread posted recently about Alexander-Kotelnik, I didn't see one outraged post from you on there.

I dunno if its Bradley thats ducking Alexander, or if its Shaw. But either way, after they both take care of business this summer, Timmy will no choice to fight Dev, or be labeled a bitch.

Khan is what his name suggests.... a con. He has no intention of fighting Bradley, Alexander, Maidana, or Ortiz anytime soon. After he's done with old man Casa, he'll probably fight the LOSER of Marquez-Diaz II. Or maybe he'll fight someone like Ali Funeka.

Yeah, basically they realize Khan has the potential to be a big crossover star and they're building him up against recognizable names.

He's the most ducked guy in the division...Khoward's too afraid to speak his name...Bradley flat out refused to fight him.

Even if Bradley's pulling a bitch move at least he's fighting a BIGGER guy, not going after smaller guys with no power and smaller, OLD fighters.

This thread is about Khan Khowardice...I'll be glad to bash Amir in the Alexander thread if you like. I'm flexible. :bears:

Funny, because I remember Khan mentioning his name after the Malignaggi fight.

I'm not even talking about Bradley, I was talking about Alexander. Alexander is fighting a guy who Khan dealt with easily in his next fight, but I don't hear the same outrage from you over that.

Slice'n'Dice...you know it as well as I do...Khan is flat-out avoiding anyone that can punch.

I dont know who Khan-Khan will or won't beat, but he is scared of punchers.

And this time there is NO Frank Warren to blame.

Wrong. He called out Maidana directly, Maidana is injured. Not his fault. What's wrong with a stay busy fight in the meantime?

He said he wants to unify before he leaves the weight, so he's gonna have to face them sooner or later. And no, I don't believe he is scared of punchers, I actually believe that's a monkey he wants to get off his back asap.

    After.

Maidana pulled out of the Bradley fight citing an injury...Khoward then called him out.

Remember...Bradley vs Maidana was already tabled for June...Maidana gets injured then the fight is pushed back to July.

Maidana then pulls out citing a back injury then Khoward goes on TV talking about how much he wants to fight the guy.

    The bottom line is this...

    1. he mentioned Maidana when he knew there was a signed contract to fight someone else

    2. he reiterated his desire to fight him knowing he'd pulled out of a fight with an injury.

Slice negates to mention those facts. Funny how all the guys Khoward says he wants to fight, there's always someone smaller, older who gets the call. Paulie only got the call because Marquez passed...Schaefer has already said he'd like to see Khoward face the winner of marquez-diaz II (both of which are Golden Boy fighters like Casamayor).

My point is (and has yet to be [properly addressed) if Golden Boy is so set on having Khoward in an in-house fight...why not put him in with Victor Ortiz who is ranked #3 in the organization where Khoward holds his title.

And as much as I hate to use Oscar De La Hoya's name...as much as I hate Oscar...he fought Quartey and Trinidad in the same year...seven months apart. So this shit about Khoward and a "stay busy" fight is bullshit.

BTW...in between Quartey and Trinidad, Oscar fought Oba Carr who was a solid fighter as well.

Before Slice comes in and questions the timeline...here's an article discussing Maidana pulling out of the Bradley fight BEFORE Khoward goes on HBO talking about how badly he wants Maidana....

This article is dated May 3, 2010...Khoward-Malignaggi was May 15, 2010.

Maidana backs out of fight for 2nd time

    <HR width="100%" noShade SIZE=1>
    By Dan Rafael
    ESPN.com

Junior welterweight Marco Maidana's bad back is still giving him problems, forcing him to withdraw for the second time from a much-anticipated fight against titleholder Timothy Bradley Jr. on Monday.

They were supposed to meet June 19, but Argentina's Maidana asked for a postponement in April, and the fight was rescheduled for July 17 at the Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa in Rancho Mirage, Calif., which is not far from Bradley's hometown of Palm Springs.

Now that date is off as well, and Gary Shaw, Bradley's co-promoter with Thompson Boxing, is fuming, especially because he was notified only the day before Agua Caliente was scheduled to host the formal news conference announcing the fight.

Shaw arrived in Rancho Mirage and was just sitting down for a meeting with casino executives to go over details when he got the call from Eric Gomez, a matchmaker for Golden Boy Promotions, which handles Maidana.

"I think Maidana is afraid and he's a chicken," Shaw told ESPN.com. "He asked us once to move the fight because of an injury and we said fine, no problem. Now Eric Gomez says he missed his flight and can't make it to the press conference and, oh by the way, he's not taking the fight because he still has back problems."

Shaw then took another shot at Maidana: "I know where the injury came from -- from carrying that opponent [William Gonzalez] for three rounds in Argentina. He must have hurt his back carrying that guy. It's ridiculous.

"We are 24 hours, less, from the press conference. Obviously, Maidana's back wasn't getting better so why not call us and let us know as soon as possible? They didn't know his back was hurting the day before or the day before that? You don't do that. This is what makes boxing a bad business."

Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer said he understood Shaw's anger but that injuries happen.

"He injured his back and it's still bothering him," Schaefer said. "I was told he can't travel because of it. They're probably going to do further tests on his back. He can't fight. He can't even train. If the guy is injured, he's injured. I am as disappointed as Gary and as disappointed as the fight fans, but it's not really fair to blame Maidana.

"He's not the kind of guy who turns down anyone. It would have been a career-high purse for him. It's not like he's a millionaire. He could use the money. I am sure he's disappointed. Not once did he hesitate taking the fight. I can understand Gary's frustration, but there are no games being played."

Maidana (28-1, 27 KOs) won a vacant interim title by making heralded prospect Victor Ortiz quit in the sixth round last June before knocking out Gonzalez in the third round in November.

Maidana followed that with a sixth-round knockout of previously undefeated Victor Cayo on HBO on March 27, setting the stage for the fight with Bradley (25-0, 11 KOs), who was supposed to make his debut on the network.

Shaw said Agua Caliente still wants Bradley's next fight and he hoped HBO would also keep him on July 17 against a different opponent.

I'd say a British paper wrote that article and made up the quote...here's an interview from Bradley a few days ago....It's time to change your sig.

    http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&id=28190

Bradley appeared on BoxingScene.com's official audio program, "Leave It In The Ring Radio," and said Khan is the easiest fight among the best fighters at 140-pounds.

"The toughest fight would be Devon [Alexander] no doubt. The second toughest fight would be Marcos Maidana, and the third would be Khan. That's how I rank it. But the most money is Khan. I would take Khan in a heartbeat. Alexander is a lefty, he's quick and has a great jab, [and] he's hungry. The thing with Khan is, he's still learning. He still has a lot to learn. I saw a lot of things he did wrong against Malignaggi," Bradley said.

"It really don't matter [where the Khan fight happens]. I would love to go to the UK and duke it out with him in the UK. I would love to fight him here in the States. I thought he had a great outing here in the States. He had a big fanbase there in New York. We could do it somewhere around there or somewhere on the West Coast, maybe in [Las] Vegas. Wherever they are paying the most money is where we're going."

Of course you'd say that. The fact is it was published in a BOXING publication, not a newspaper, where they interviewed both Malignaggi and Bradley. If Bradley has changed his tune in the meantime, who gives a fuck? Fighters have opinions, and opinions are like...well you know the rest

Seems this wasn't your stance when citing Khoward calling out Maidana. You've hung your hat on Khoward's words after the malignaggi fight...now it's clear there wasn't a possibility of that fight happening...care to revise your statements/support for Khoward?

    YAWN.

They asked him "DO YOU WANT TO FIGHT MAIDANA?"

Khan replied "YES I WANT TO FIGHT MAIDANA"

It wasn't a sneaky little ploy to make him look better as he knew Maidana was injured, he was asked a question and he gave them an answer. Also, yes it is a "stay busy" fight, when Maidana is fully fit we'll see if that transpires, but jeez man, don't let hate consume you, it's a bad thing

    What?

Maidana is INJURED. Just because the fight can't happen tomorrow doesn't mean it can't happen later on. Also, the comparison doesn't stand up, your quote is regarding Bradleys opinions on another fighter, Khans quote is whether he would be willing to face another fighter. Stop grasping.
