http://sports.sho.com/browse/video-portal.html?id=68949079001 Good stuff as usual. I loved how they messed with Shaw. "We know the rules are set, but we´ll need a 10x10 ring for the next fight" "No I think it was actually 8x8" "You guys can fuck off" :crying: Dirrell and Taylor come across well with the family stories, while Green is pushed toward the arrogant act and embraces it. Dirrell bowling. LOL. Damn he´s good.
Shaw always struck me as a low-class kind of guy, high on profanity and bravado and not so high on conversation and intelligence. The sort of yob who is right at home in the "modern" era.
Dirrell Visiting the Vacant Lot that USED to B his Home was MILDLY Sad...Being 1 of the 10-15 Best in the ENTIRE World (Lb for Lb) Doesn't Mean U CAN'T Get your Luggage Lost, Apparently::... Overall, Another HIGH Quality, GENUINELY "Behind the Scenes" Look @ Elite Level Prizefighting... REED:hammert:
I'd have liked to have seen more of the meeting where Shaw walks off in a huff....if it was just because of that one thing they said, he's seriously got to learn to take a joke. Mick Hennessey makes me chuckle, not because of anything he says....because he says nothing. And that's what i find funny....he's just happy to be there
He's done well with Froch, they owe a lot to each other. Hennessey came out of nowhere, took on some of the brightest amateur talent and Froch was the one that came through in a way that no one else thought he would. Froch, to his credit, has remained loyal...especially at times when Mick has struggled for TV deals.
As a promoter, Hennessey owes some serious, SERIOUS answers for the way he has handled Froch over the last eighteen months. How he has managed to take arguably the only legitimate British world champion at this time, in a period of extended boxing popularity in this country, from terrestrial, prime time TV to a marginal, obscure PPV cable channel is an absolute mystery and a complete disgrace. Froch-Taylor was shown on precisely ZERO television channels, live, in the UK. I remember being sat here, logged onto this site waiting for the RbR and listening to Radio Five's garbled commentary. Utterly ridiculous. Also, Hennessey recent told the BBC that Froch has 'transended boxing'. His words, not mine. The man is a fucking idiot. MTF :shit:
"My Belt. And my necklace".....What's he doing going around with his IBF Middlweight Belt??:dunno: That said, Abes phone manner is great "ooookay tank u bye-bye"......you would not think you were speaking to a guy who could put you in traction for 18 months on a whim.
So you don't think that the TV companies are more to blame than the promoters? His comment about Froch transending boxing was laughable, but that sort of hype is what promoter's are there to do.
I think the TV companies take a portion of the blame, sure, but there is only so much blame you can throw their way. Like everyone else who has the vaguest interest in boxing here, Hennessey knew about four months in advance that Froch's first defense against Taylor wouldn't be sanctioned by ITV. ITV were huffed by Khan's defection to Sky PPV after they had made such an effort to build him up and so they pulled the plug. I don't blame ITV for that- I think Werren and Khan treated ITV like idiots and ITV's reaction, in those circumstances, was understandable. Werren tried to play ITV for fools... Hennessey KNEW this and had plenty of time to get it sorted. Instead, he sat on his hands on complained to anyone who would listen. His job is to get things done, not mope around the place. As the fight got closer and closer, he did more and more moaning and less and less actual work, meaning that there was NO coverage at all, save a 24-hour tape delayed ITV broadcast, arranged at the proverbial 12th hour and of no real use to anyone. This was shameful enough, but, seemingly undeterred, Mick then did EXACTLY the same thing again when Froch entered the Super Six. This tourney was big news, as you will know yourself, and yet Hennessey managed yet again to take the most interesting, high profile boxing event of the year and found himself enable to secure, again, not a single shred of TV coverage. How the hell is that possible? He doesn't need to push TV for money, because Showtime financed the whole shebang, so he could have sold the thing for peanuts if he'd chosen. Instead, he sat on his fat arse and waited until THREE DAYS before the fight to sell broadcasting rights to a PPV channel that didn't exist until he sold them the rights to this fight...:atu: Next up, hundreds of people buy tickets for flights and hotels to Copenhagen to see Froch fight Kessler in April, only for Hennessey to then agree to a change of location to Herring, hundreds of miles away. Hennessey defends this by claiming tha the fans will understand, because Froch has 'transcended boxing' :notallthere: Dreadful. Absolutely dreadful. What sort of 'promotion' is that lot? MTF :shit:
If i saw BBC, ITV or ESPN make any kind of investment into showing live boxing, then you'd definitely have a point. But they aren't, they are simply ignoring the market. Look at Haymaker promotions since Setanta fell through...Sky only have so many dates, and can only deal with so many promoters. ...i don't know if Hennessey has turned down any offers from british broadcasters. If they are flat-out not interested, then there isn't a lot he can do. You maybe right, but you can't say so with any degree of certainty, unless you are privy to the negotiations. We're just reading between the lines, and i'm swayed more towards blaming the TV companies, because Hennessey isn't the only promoter struggling. But, granted, this situation may disguise what a supposedly poor job he is doing. With regards to the venue change...i really don't know the ins-and-outs and i haven't got the time to read up on it. But you can only pin so much of the blame on the 'away' promoter. What's he supposed to do...threaten to pull Carl out? With regards to Froch's ring-education, it's not perfect, but i don't see much fault in the way Froch has been brought through with regards to who he has fought. He's been given some tests along the way, fought and won domestic, european, and world titles, he's (just) remained unbeaten and now he's in a very exciting tournament where he has the chance to prove himself as the best in the world..... and yes, regardless of who's fault it is, it's a bloody shame we have to pay (or use an internet stream :crafty: ) to see it.
Love these episodes. Everytime I watch them I get hyped. And all the fighters continue to grow on me. I love each dude and what they bring to the table. Damn I'm hyped. However we got a little scrap coming up this Saturday! I'll Holla 5000
This is a good series. Unlike 24/7, they have more variety to choose from as there are now seven fighters here with stories. Green's got a sense of humor. Abraham comes across as a really likeable person. I generally try not to read too much into shows like this but I do wonder a bit about Dirrell's confidence level by some of the things he says (and especially from how he fought against Froch).
Although as you know I don't like Arabham at all as a fighter, he does seem likeable out of the ring. Although a successful 30 year old man living with his mother is pretty fucking creepy.
It's Only Creepy if She Hears his HEADBOARD Banging Against the Wall Or WORSE, if He Hears HERS.... REED:hump:
the Abraham residence seems pretty big, as in there might be room for many banging of many headboards, that people would be freely able to conduct relations, without embarrassment for anyone.
Here is the thing Feebles....Hennessey also has Steven Bounce on his payroll. Last year, Bounce went on tele to tell us all that ANYONE who watched the Taylor-Froch war on an internet stream was ROBBING MONEY from Carl Froch. Which is ABSOLUTE BS....we weren't able to watch the fight IN ANY OTHER WAY. Slutanta didn't have it.....I dont think Sky had it....ITV didnt have it till the day after...:dunno::dunno:
Abraham is a cool nicca. He definitely seems like he has a chick for everyday of the week. Outta the 7..... Taylor and Kessler are probably the nicest it seems. Taylor is just a natural goofball, and at home you can tell that he doesnt CARE that he's a goofball. Kessler is probably tooooo nice, which could be his downfall as a fighter. I mean, most fighters are nice ppl... then the bell rings and a killer comes out of them(Mosley and Pac as examples). I dunno if Kessler has that "killer" streak in him, and he might need it vs Froch.
You know what I am willing to bet that all of the fighters are cool as hell. Hell all the professional athletes I have come in contact with are hella cool. People read way too much into how cats are while on TV. Don't let that shit fool you. Pro athletes and are regular down to earth type dudes just like us. Wait I am a former pro athlete and I prolly the coolest chillest cat around. I'll Holla 5000
I didn't hear Bunce say that. Where was this? Of course, you are right- there was NO FUCKING WHERE ELSE to watch the fight, seeing as Hennessey, in his infinite genius, could somehow not persuade at least one single, solitary TV company to carry a live broadcast. Some promoter... MTF :atu:
Meaty Mick is out of his league somewhat with a world class fighter like Froch, and while the latter's loyalty is refreshing, his earning potential has not been maximised in the last two years...still, any British promoter which even slightly upsets Wazza deserves some admiration
Kessler's a SORE Loser...Blaming Everybody & Everything BUT HIMSELF for Losing to Ward... REED:boohoo:
