good examples too of how HBO will go along with anything. it's funny ... believe it or not, i thought about trying to find a new example because i knew the point i was trying to make was going to be lost by using Mosley since many of his fans can be very defensive.
I meant Barrera was favored by most here to win ( Khan was seen as shit following his ko1 loss to Prescott ), not the other 2. And you're comparing Khan to Leonard, no one, save perhaps the worst British groupies, expect Khan to comen anywhere close to Leonard, hell, I doubt anyone think he'll be close to Oscar. And Malignaggi just came off a big win of Diaz, I won't try to pump the win as something it isn't but it's at least a solid win for Khan. as Paulie was top 10 in the division. No, Khan resume isn't spectacular, and a JMM fight deserves some critiscism in the sense that he's a smaller fighter with a name ( controlled risks, just like Floyd is doing wich I hate btw ) but it make sense for him for his devellopement and I can accept it as he's still very young
Just to prove I wasn't talking out of my ass http://www.fightbeat.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29910&highlight=khan+barrera And guess who picked Khan to win easilly :bears::bears::hammert:
How people can keep making excuses for Khan is beyond me. It's so blindingly obvious that, at the very least, his handlers have absolutely no faith in his powers of recuperation or resistance. They are basically admitting that their charge is the latest in that long well established line of statuesque glass-jaw's that the sport has been throwing up from day 1.
I kind of agree with the couple of people in this thread that don't really have an issue with this fight. Khan is still very young and either guy will provide some good experience for him as he continues to mature as a professional prize fighter. I think we as fans tend to want to throw these young guys to the wolves too early on in their careers and it oftentimes ruins them. Look at Vargas as a good example of a guy who I think blew his load way too early on in his career by being put in over his head rather than being allowed to gradually grow.
Alexander is the same age and has one less fight than Khan...his last couple opponents were much bigger threats than Khan's... Bradley has one more fight than Khan...his last two years tops Khan's dance card as well. My thing is this...kinda like Julio Cesar Chavez Jr....he needed time to develop thus he hasn't fought for a major title. Khan has. Once he picked up a major title the "gimme" fights went out the window. As said...Bradley's looking to fight a welterweight in his next bout...Khan's looking at four potential lightweights. What's wrong with that picture? Khan's folks saw Bradley beat down a top prospect (in Peterson) and Alexander KO Urango who Hatton and Berto couldn't stop. That's the real reason Khan isn't fighting either guy.
Not so sure it's fair to compare one guy to another despite them being the same age. Maybe Khan is not ready for guys who are a bigger threat yet at this stage in his career whereas maybe Alexander is ready. Sure he has a belt, but it's not exactly difficult these days for guys with this level of talent to collect one of the many belts that are out there. The belts don't mean as much today as they once meant.
How is Khan supposed to get ready for a threat? By facing guys who are not a threat? :dunno: How does that work?:notallthere:
Can't win in this can I? First it's said it's unfair to compare Khan at this stage to Leonard and DLH...Joemul went on to say he thought Khan's ledger would fare well against quality fighters at his age...I then disprove that by referencing the records of his peers...fellow young title holders. Then it's the "don't rush him because he could end up like Vargas" argument. All cop out responses. He's a professional fighter and is touted as a world champion...exactly when does he start acting like one? For the record, I've been consistent about this in case other Brit fans desire to think I'm picking on the guy. Those who have been around know I took the exact same stance when Jermain Taylor did this shit, Naseem Hamed and the same holds true for Juan "Babyback Ribs" Diaz did the same.
