ODH is a far better fighter than Palomino. He wins by decision.

greater? yes... I wouldnt say he was a far better welterweight face-to-face

I think Oscar wins because of his advantages in handspeed and defense, but he is made to work hard for the decision

the idea that it is some kind of mismatch is idiotic

yeah. anyone out there who has that idea better change his mind. i agree. it's not a mismatch. but ODH's still better.

Absolutely. DLH would rate higher in all time rankings, but in the ring, it's a really good fight and if DLH is better, it's not by much.

7-4-1, De La Hoya. I don't feel he was dramatically better, & Palomino probably gets a bad rap as being under-rated nowadays, but De La Hoya would pull this one off, IMO.

I give Palomino a good shot of pulling it out in a 15 rounder.

In a 12 rounder, DLH by decision.

Most contemporary fighters (post-15 round era), given time, could adjust to the extra three periods. I'm not sure De La Hoya joins those fighters in that category, though. I thought for a time his endurance seemed to improve under Floyd Mayweather's tutelage, but it came toward the twilight of his prime, so it was difficult to tell.

I don't know how he'd fare over fifteen rounds, but I'd want to see him tackle the distance against a lesser man than Palomino first-up, before I gave an opinion.
