There is no other fighter who can match the speed and multiple punch combinations from different angles that Roy Jones threw.

Ray Leonard and Aaron Pryor are two others that I would rank high in this category but even they don't approach the speed, power and variety of the combos that prime RJJ put on his opponents.

Tough to decide between Arguello, Chavez and Joe Louis.

Offense needs an end product. No way the most offensive fighter of all time can end up with so many decisions.

I'd also add Robinson & Duran up there. Very complete arsenals.

Just because he threw a lot of punches non stop and could throw each and every single one with his feet perfectly set up, with speed and incredible power no matter if he was going back or forward?

He had a lot of ability but didn't use it as much as some other prolific offensive fighters. And a non-stop puncher with incredible speed and power is not conducive to the KO ratio that Robinson had. That just doesn't make sense. He KO'd some iron chinned fighters, and did some impressive things, but just because he was versatile doesn't make him the greatest. A fighter could throw only a jab for all I care, but if he's KOing good fighters with it, he's a good offensive fighter. And this KOing someone while going backward is certainly an overrated feat, drummed up by guys like Bert Sugar to overrate old timers(although Robinson is not overrated), fucking Floyd Mayweather Jr of all people did that exact feat, and it's not like Robinson did it with regularity.

Jones wasn't even the best offensive fighter of his generation. Is this a truly serious topic, or is some fishing going on? Jones is a contentious figure, after all.

The most astonishing one-punch KO of all-time, IMO, comes from the true answer to this question --- Robinson, & his devastation of the young, concrete-jawed Fullmer. Absolutely astonishing that a natural Welter, not far away from forty, could do that to Fullmer. I wouldn't bet on another ex-Welter champ in history to level Fullmer for the count, much less with one blow, or at an advanced age. That was against a man who fitted the mould of fighters who traditionally troubled Robinson to boot, making it all the more remarkable.

To me, Robinson is the best offensive fighter of all-time --- better than Duran, better than Arguello, better even than the mercurial Louis.

Lopez was more proficient offensively, & that's just within Jones' own time.

His punch placement was better than Jones', & he was more open to being an offensive fighter. Jones all but left his killer instinct behind at 168lbs. That's a far cry from true offensive greats, who went out & KO'd men at any time in their careers.

If Lopez had Displayed All of these Traits Against Mark Johnson or Johnny Tapia, or Any of the Other NOTED Little Men that he NEGLECTED to Fight, U Might have a Point...

Rosendo Alvarez is Probably THE BEST Name on Lopez's Resume...Alvarez Probably WOULDN'T even B a Top 5 Name on Roy's Resume...

Oh please Ramon, you've got good insight but bestowing that title based on one fight is ridiculous. Let's not act like Louis fought weak jawed fighters either. Chavez as well. Louis > Chavez > Robinson.

Robinson was content to go to points often, no say he's the bet offensive fighter of all time. It'd be like saying the same for Roy, who had as many moments of brilliance as anyone.

Roy Jones is Certainly IN the Discussion...

MORE than Enough Power in BOTH Fists...More HANDSPEED than Any Fighter EVER (Throwing 5 Left Hooks in 1-2 Seconds)...ACCURACY (Landing 5 Left Hooks @ a Time)...

Roy was Unorthodox in a GOOD Way...Who THROWS Uppercut-Left Hook-Left Hook Combo's???...Who LANDS Uppercut-Left Hook-Left Hook Combo's???...The SWEEPING Hookercut that KO'ed Griffin is 1 of the More UNCONVENTIONAL Shots U'll Ever See, yet it Landed Right on the Button...

REED Won't Argue WHERE Roy Should B Placed, but he's CLEARLY in the Discussion for "Best Offensive Fighter of All Time"...

Larry Merchant 1nce Said, "Even Sugar Ray Robinson WASN'T 'SUGAR RAY ROBINSON', Everytime he Fought"...

People Act as if Every Bead of Sweat that Robinson Dripped was Laced w/Greatness...Apparently, Even his Stool Samples Looked BETTER than those of Any Other Fighter...Contrary to Popular Belief, Robinson DID have Less than Stellar Outings...MANY of them...

Robinson was UNDENIABLY Great, but to Act as if NOBODY Even Comes Close to him, 50 Years AFTER the Fact, is Silly...

:bears:exactly. When time goes by, the real fighter turns into his highlight reel. In reality, Roy Jones along with Ray Leonard was probably the closest to being the same fighter in reality and in highlight reels

when Robinson wanted the KO, he got it

every single punch in his arsenal was thrown perfectly, with formidable speed and fluidity, his hands were like machine guns

he had, what, 202 pro fights? obviously he's not going to be at his best every time out... but dont forget this man was 128-1-1 at one point and not a cheap 128-1-1, he fought and beat just about everybody available and in many of those fights he was undeniably spectacular

If Arguello had been as fast as Robinson, I would hands down make him the number one offensive fighter of all time, but he wasnt... to me, Robinson has no real rivals in this regard, the closest guy I can think of is Thomas Hearns

and the opposition of Robinson/Arguello/Hearns takes a messy, wet shit all over that of Roy Jones

that said, I agree with the Jones fans that citing Ricardo Lopez for this is absurd... he was a brilliant looking fighter but he got it done in historically weak divisions against largely non-descript opposition, and Alvarez pushed him to the absolute breaking point both times

So Robinson Simply DIDN'T "Want" the KO During his DOUBLE DIGIT LOSSES, C-Doggy Dogg???...

Also, Arguello & Hearns May have FOUGHT Better Opposition than Roy Jones Did, but Did they BEAT Better Opposition than Roy Jones Did???....

Robinson lost a couple of those fights and got gifts I hear. I hear Gavilan beat him, and I hear the crowd bood the decision in like his 34th fight.
