Fedors bravado really did get the best of him this time. It was bound to happen to him eventually. Jumping into the guard of a decorated BJJ specialist nice and dry without a care in the world.

No kidding. He rushed into it so quickly. It seemed odd.

But as I said, slam Werdum all you want but he is the most well-rounded guy Fedor has fought since Big Nog. Werdum got starched in the UFC by JDS, but the guy is no slouch.

I actually think this will be a good thing for him. It will take some of the pressure off of him. Get rid of the stupid p4p debate and some of the unreasonable expectations. He is old guard. It was bound to happen.

I take that back. No maybe. Fedor is still PFP #1. This isnt some bracket. on any given night i would pick Fedor to beat you. Even Werdum again. fedor is still PFP the best fighter in the world.

Funny I was thinking about how bad it was for Strikeforce that Fedor lost to Werdum. But then I start thinking about how much I want to see a rematch. I hope Strikeforce is smart enough to do a rematch before putting Werdum in with Overreem.

Fedor's won like 30 MMA fights in a row?

Thats a streak thats going to last a long time.

Yeah, Overeem has got to keep it vertical though. But really, his biggest that night will be after the fight.

    The five stages of grief

    The progression of states is

    1. Denial – "I feel fine."; "This can't be happening, not to me."
Denial is usually only a temporary defense for the individual. This feeling is generally replaced with heightened awareness of situations and individuals that will be left behind after death.
    2. Anger – "Why me? It's not fair!"; "How can this happen to me?"; "Who is to blame?"
Once in the second stage, the individual recognizes that denial cannot continue. Because of anger, the person is very difficult to care for due to misplaced feelings of rage and envy. Any individual that symbolizes life or energy is subject to projected resentment and jealousy.
    3. Bargaining – "Just let me live to see my children graduate."; "I'll do anything for a few more years."; "I will give my life savings if..."
The third stage involves the hope that the individual can somehow postpone or delay death. Usually, the negotiation for an extended life is made with a higher power in exchange for a reformed lifestyle. Psychologically, the individual is saying, "I understand I will die, but if I could just have more time..."
    4. Depression – "I'm so sad, why bother with anything?"; "I'm going to die... What's the point?"; "I miss my loved one, why go on?"
During the fourth stage, the dying person begins to understand the certainty of death. Because of this, the individual may become silent, refuse visitors and spend much of the time crying and grieving. This process allows the dying person to disconnect oneself from things of love and affection. It is not recommended to attempt to cheer up an individual who is in this stage. It is an important time for grieving that must be processed.
    5. Acceptance – "It's going to be okay."; "I can't fight it, I may as well prepare for it."
In this last stage, the individual begins to come to terms with their mortality or that of their loved one.

Deniel about what? Fedor lost. That doesnt mean imo PFP he isnt the best fighter out there.

Verdum was not hurt when he went down. Obviously Fedor should have it kept it standing but went right into his guard.

"My night tonight but Fedor is still the best of the world"
    Fabricio Verdum

"The one who doesn't fall doesn't stand up."
"We have one more fight to which I'll come to America."
    Fedor

    Purely SHOCKING!

I agree with the general concensus.

I feel bad for Fedor that he lost, but really I think it's a good thing.

He'll surely come back better now, less complacent.

And to be honest, it was Fedor's fault. He literally jumped straight into the guard of a pure BJJ guy, a plain stupid thing to do. I admire fighters who have courage like Fedor, and don't just turtle like little bitches and play it safe, but there's also fighting smart without needing to fight like a bitch.

Fedor was just a bit too cocky and got caught. He should have stayed standing at all times, and waited for Werdum to get up. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Werdum baited Fedor, pretended to be hurt, just so he could get him in an armlock. Esepcially seeing as rolling onto your back seems to be a pretty common thing to do for pure BJJ guys.

I'm also wondering if Fedor is getting tentative with his brittle hands. He was trying to hit Werdum with hammerfists rather than the brutal g&p he used to do to a grounded opponent.

Werdum wasn't hurt, he flopped. You can see it on the replay, he doesn't actually get hit with a punch when he goes down. All the experience in the world and he got suckered like that.

At least Silva is smart enough not to do that against Leites and Maia and doesn't care about what stupid fans think.

Yep same reason Roy was still p4p number 1 after the second Tarver fight... just got cought...

So what U're Saying Is, Fedor's Loss ENHANCES Roy's Legacy, Right???...

Seriously though, the INSTANT Roy was Counted Out in the Tarver RE, he was NO Looooooooonger Lb for Lb # 1...Roy was Still EASILY Top 5 After the Loss, but Floyd AND Bernard had to B Bumped AHEAD of him, Based on RECENCY...

Ditto for Fedor...He's Still EASILY Top 5, Perhaps even Top 2...But U CAN'T Rate him OVER Anderson Silva...If Fedor Gets an Immediate RE & Wins Impressively, he'll Make a STRONG Case for Reclaiming the Top Spot, but RIGHT NOW, it's Gotta B Anderson Silva...

Also, Fedor didn't get "caught". He got submitted by a much better grappler. For that matter, Bum Rogers got "caught" when Fedor knocked him out. And AA got "caught" too.
