Quite honestly, any difference in skill set/schooling is probably negligible.:: That said, Chavez has all the God given physical & mental talent for boxing I do, and Tito had rather allot. Tito KO 3, in shrieking, paint peeling fashion.
Does Tito have the benefit of his illegal wraps? If so, he wins. And not only that, he inflicts serious nerve damage, shortening Chavez's career, and possibly causing Chavez to become a criminal.
Why did you put (Prime)??...any version of Trinidad would KO the kid...Tito can come out of retirement tomorrow and Ko' the kid..
Correct, that wasn't until the Winky Wright bout. However Mayorga was rocking a very natural looking red.
No but he had to hit him with everything he had to stop him. And even then it was a mercy stoppage, not a Tito signature KO. And at 160, Mayorga's small too!
So he hit Joppy, Vargas, Reid, Carr, everyone he ever face with EVERYTHING he had. Tito use to load up on every power punch....right cross, left hook, uppercuts...etc...it's nothing new..
it's where he does his special "Tito Dance" and then knocks the guy out with one shot and then does one of those Hogan arm roll-hand-up-to-the-ear-and-cup-it-so-you-can-hear-the-crowd-roar things and then he tears apart his "Titomania" tank top
Joppy Campas Carr Vargas Basically, when he hit guys with his loaded gloves. Against Mayorga, he didn't have those gloves, and had to slap Mayorga all over the ring, never actually taking Mayorga's legs away.
Up until the Hopkins fight, Trinidad wrapped his gloves illegally. His father testified to this fact. And it's why the Tito we see during and after the Hopkins fight looks nothing like the one we saw previously.
he looked EXACTLY the same against Cherifi as he always had you make it sound like he had lead prosthetic hands like the drug lord in "Enter The Dragon" no amount of actual evidence regarding the real effectiveness of his wrapping technique will stop you from declaring that you KNOW his power came solely from these wraps You mention the Mayorga fight, while neglecting one crucial fact: Mayorga had a much better chin than Joppy, Carr, Vargas
Why do you say Mayorga had a better chin than those guys? Why? Cherifi was shot to shit. Watch Trinidad/Thiam. Or Trinidad/Reid. There's super-natural forces at work there.
Papa Trinidad said he wrapped Trinidad had the same way for EVERY FIGHT 30+ other opponent trainer/cornerman, and boxing inspectors witness the hands being wrapped..and nobody complained...you telling me the people in Vargas, De La Hoya, Carr, Reid, Camacho, etc team didn't catch Papa Trinidad wet gauze, and layers of tape and gauze, tape and gauze??... Trinidad was made to re-wrap his hands multiple times because Fisher made a big deal about it...unlike Margarito who had pieces of dry plaster falling to the ground and gauze with wet plaster all over his wraps...
Did Trinidad look like a monster puncher vs. Camacho, De La Hoya, Whitaker? NO because those guys box him..they didn't just stand there face first like Vargas, Campas, Thiam, etc.... REID was doing fine till Trinidad started landing punches on him..in round 5 and 6....>Reid started getting tagged, and got a too brave for his own good..
really??? a guy who basically invited people to punch him in the face? and generally stayed upright doing so?? you want to know why THAT guy has a better chin than Carr or Joppy who tried not to get hit and were still hurt numerous times throught their careers? LMAO, you bring up Thiam as if beating him up was some astonishing accomplishment... and Reid??? that is your evidence that Trinidad was clearly cheating??? that these wraps made all the difference in the world??? he hit DLH with a clean shot after the bell, how come Oscar didnt fall apart?? if Trinidad's wraps were the be-all end-all why did Oscar do nothing other than angrily look at Trinidad after being hit on the jaw with a clean punch after the bell?
It's not a question of how good Thiam is. Did you see what happened to his face during the fight? And how badly he was hurt from what was a glancing blow by Trinidad? and as far as ODH against Trinidad, have you ever seen ODH fight anyone as cautiously and as unwilling to trade as he did Trinidad? Nobody's claiming that with his wraps, all Trinidad had to do was hit you with a shot and you're gone. This was especially not the case at 147 and 154 where Tito loaded up less. But that doesn't mean he didn't have the benefit of illegal wraps. He did. And it's plain to see if you watch his fights carefully.
oh christ, the old Double L sees something the rest of us don't routine Why would DLH trade against Trinidad? he was having an easy time boxing him stupid for nine rounds... why trade? DLH was reluctant as hell for the majority of his fight with Ike Quartey... was Quartey loaded, too? you have NO PROOF AT ALL of what effect if any this special wrapping had, none, zero
No. But I'm sensible enough to see the difference between what ODH did against Quartey and what he did against Trinidad. Why would he trade? I'm not suggesting all he should've done was trade. What I am suggesting was that ODH's style, approach and temperment against Trinidad were all a complete departure for him. You really think ODH fought the final three rounds exactly the way he wanted to? Even against the likes of Bernard Hopkins ODH wasn't running scared the way he was against Trinidad. Reid was never the same after the Trinidad fight. And similarly, Vargas' durability was gone. Both guys were victims of assault. And anyone claiming that Reid was having no trouble against Tito until he got caught simply hasn't watched their fight carefully. Reid was hurt by every punch, including ones that landed on his gloves. Trinidad owes Vargas and Reid their careers and their health. And it's a crying fucking shame. And you're entitled to your opinion. And we can debate it forever. But I'm not the type to ignore evidence. I'm not the type to turn a blind eye. I was a big Trinidad fan; I just call it like I see it.
