wasn't little nog an amateur boxer before he started doing bjj? i believe he was the brazilian heavyweight champ at one point, but i'm sure he did both boxing and bjj as a kid.

couture is the bernard hopkins of mma. even at 47, he's still very formidable although he's no longer elite.

as much as i love toney as a boxer, i'm also a big couture fan and i expect the old man to take care of biz in his very own sport.

i'd be SHOCKED if toney wins.

by the way, does anyone know if toney ever wrestled in high school? i think toney was a star football player during his high school days and actually weighed more than he did during his middleweight/super middleweight reign.

btw, baek jong kwon, who was a former super featherweight titlist (before getting whupped by casamayor) turned to mma after retiring from boxing. i belive he won some fights, but i do recall him getting KTFOed in one of his fights.

i'm not completely sure if toney truly has the striking advantage.

surely, if it was just pure boxing, couture probably gets waxed, but the way toney fights as a boxer is tailor made for couture to not only use his greco-roman clinch but also hit and hold at the same time. if that doesn't work, all couture has to do is take it to the ground and it should be over right then and there.

i wouldnt be shocked if couture wins via sub he's never even attempted.

 

Toney's punching power is being way overated. People see 40+ KO's on his record and think he's got big power, but he only has 2 KO's as a heavyweight, and both fighters he KO'd, Holyfield and the guy in his last fight who's name I can't remember and don't feel like looking up (Green? Greer?), both of those guys were standing when the fight ended.

Toney isn't a one punch KO fighter. He stops people by accumulating punches and wearing them down. This isn't Ray Mercer, who has legit one punch KO power.

Now, I'm not saying Toney can't KO Couture, because I'm sure he can, but way too many people, especially Toney, believe that all Toney has to do is land one punch and the fight will be over. And it just isn't gonna be that easy.

There are many HW's that probably hit harder than Toney. Toney Is not a big puncher.

 

I don't remember a single non biased person having Toney beating Oquendo. He lost clearly if my memory serves me right

 

I didn't see the fight, so I can only go off the large group of people who thought Toney lost. Either way, say it was close... it's fucking Fres Oquendo.
