Donaire must have inherited Darchinyan´s ego with the win. Thought he could fight the whole fight in the southpaw stance, but had to switch eventually and beats up a small 21 year old kid in the end. He was hit enough for me to think, that he´ll get beaten, when he steps up to a real challenge at 118.

Marquez is not a bad fighter. Still only 21 and looked much improved compared to his last fight, but he needs to find his identity as a boxer. He gets overexcited, he gets tagged.

Damn Lopez is lucky Rafa is washed up. As good as he is offensively, he´s so careless. At some point he´ll get KTFO.

Lopez wins by 2nd round KO after both fighters scored knockdowns in the first.

I think Lopez was very hurt from the knockdown late in the first....bell came at the right time. The fight showed us what we knew about Lopez....power in both hands, accurate but also careless. That said, i expect him to show Marquez a lot more respect. I can't wait for that one.

Is Showtime airing this shit on delay or something? They have the fights starting at 9pm.

    This is some bullshit.

You live on the West Coast? They're always delayed three hours out West.

Really, really fun main event. Lopez/Marquez is nice, but the Lopez fight I still want to see is vs. Gamboa.

yep of course, me too. Still, i don't think it hurts, if they can remain undefeated, if we don't see them get together til next year. They've both got improvements to make...neither is the finished article....hopefully the pair of them will be nearer that for a big clash in 10 months or so time......Lopez-Marquez is a very good fight in the meantime.

I wouldn't be shocked if Marquez threw a wrench in the works and stopped Lopez, though.

HBO doesn't do that, do they? The shit is always live. 6pm on the west coast, 9pm on the east coast.

    Showtime is on some bullshit.

lopez-gamboa would do pretty well in ny. not sure what arum is waiting on. it's not like gamboa will ever have a morales or barrera-like following.

he should rely on w/ lopez's fanbase and make it happen on regular hbo or showtime.

Based on what we saw tonigt Arum will drag out Lopez-Gamboa as long as possible. Both guys can be hit and are vulnerable. The only difference, JuanMa has been down and hurt against better fighters than the ones who dropped Gamboa.

i think lopez vs. gamboa is a toss up. and it's definitely one of the better fights to be made.

from a promotional standpoint, it's still not a lucrative fight since gamboa doesn't really have a following. i hope arum would put this on regular HBO instead of his lame top rank ppvs.

not sure where caballero fits in, but i think he's a live dog vs. either lopez or gamboa. i wouldnt mind seeing caballero vs. gamboa first.

Gamboa's been down what...four times already?

JuanMa getting knocked down (last night) and hurt against Mtwaga was seen long ago. He got hit with the exact same shots against Penalosa.

And come on...the kid was dead tired when he got caught in the 11th against Mtwaga. He's gotten dropped and hurt in two of his last three fights so more attention is paid to that than Gamboa's earlier knockdowns. Personally, I think these last couple fights will be beneficial (assuming he gets help with tightening up his defense. He brings his hands back too low therefore he's vulnerable to counters).

Fighters need to get through this kind of adversity early.

He'll definitely make JuanMa look slow. If JuanMa trades punches with him I can see it happening. I don't trust Gamboa. I have a Joan Guzman Jr. feeling about him.

Juanma is a better fighter when he is countering opponents....he should beat Gamboa by TKO/KO by countering him silly. If he decides to come forward and attack/slug it out..he gets fucked up..

once guzman moved up in weight from 122 he could no longer hurt guys and also became undisciplined weight wise. gamboa is more talented and seems to be doing better as the competition gets stiffer and he focuses.

we will see...Cuban fighters have a tendency to get caught up in the Miami lifestyle...Casamayor is the best I can think of recently and as good as he was, he could have been better.

I think Gamboa is Zab Judah all over again... Fast, flashy, powerful, and athletic. But with a suspect chin, and very little in terms of actual SKILL.

Juanma looked good. Did what he had to do. We'll have to see what he does when he's in there with a live guy.

Lopez vs Caballero is a great fight.
