thats a bold and daft maneuver by still new to the game promotional outfit. did they seriously think no one was going to find out?

 

It's good to have a promoter that cares about boxers becasue they've been in the ring and know what it's like.

 

So that move from Top Rank to Golden Boy has really worked out well for Ortiz.

He's getting shorted on money by G and Finkel, who Kimball suggests may have been complicit, has ended his boxing manager/advisor role.

 

Thomas Hauser should be all over this story soon.

 

Hope lots of guys see this and start jumping ship from Gs. Hope Oscars greed helps to bring about his downfall and complete failure of his company. As much money as Oscar has made in his career there is simply no excuse for this kind of greed.

 

I think he broke it a few weeks back. I remember reading about some shady business surrounding the card.

If I was Nate Campbell, and my career is over anyway, I´d go after Oscar hard. If Rocky can get 36 million out of the "non-profit" WBC for screwing with his belt, I´m sure Campbell can strip Oscar down to his tranny underwear based on this.

G's probably like, "huh? we do this all the time! what's the matter? we can't rip off our fighters without telling them?" and of course, the managers are complicit. how else could they pull it off?

Ortiz and Campbell should fire their managers immediately for allowing this to happen.

The difference is Golden Boy is owned by boxers who know what it's like to be in that ring. Therefore they also know what an acceptable amount of money to to steal from fighters is.

This is not like some promoter who's never laced them up stealing from boxers.

 

that's a really good point. G is a different kind of promoter fundamentally. NYSAC needs to take this into account.

Unless the NYSAC is filled with ex-boxers they have no right to tell GPB what an acceptable amount of stealing is.

 

It's funny. G is actually filled with boxers who are already used to stealing from the purses of their opponents. None of these guys have ever been a fan of parity.

I can picture Bernard Hopkins crouched in a back room somewhere at G headquarters, rolling around in piles of quarters, calling them "my precious", and letting out a loud hiss, anytime he hears Richard Schaeffer tell him he just gave out a signing bonus to another prospect.
