The pre-Eubank Benn vs the Hearns of the Hagler/Shuler fights. I've heard some people say that Hearns will win in the middle rounds or somthing of that nature. Guys...this fight CANNOT go past three rounds. Absolutely not. Benn was a ferocious puncher at Middleweight and had all out aggression. SAME THING with Hearns. Both men could be hurt and stopped. This fight has teh potential to surpass hagler-hearns for sheer excitement and brutality....but it would be quick explosive brutality..it wont be gatti-Ward type of sustained punishment. Hearns should be favoured...but there are no wrong answers in this matchup as long as someone predicts a KO within 3 rounds. If they fought TEN times both men get knocked out at least 3 times.
:: Seriously though I agree with Sly. Early KO very likely. Obviously I'll lean towards the better fighter getting it, but it's not a sure thing.
agREED, Benn would need the same type of miracle that Barkley got... otherwise, he's getting chopped up and knocked out
I thought you might like it. :: I go with Hearns. Benn was reckless and hard hitting without thinking too much. That's a better style for 95% of fighters to beat Tommy than a "cerebral" type approach. Most people when they think of Hearns and a fire-fight will naturally remember the bout with Hagler. I don't think that's necessarily unfair, but that's still far from a "blueprint". Although a short fight, Hagler went through a hell of a lot. And even though Hagler went into complete aggression mode he still wasn't completely sloppy and winging shots from stupid spots. One of the best chins in boxing history and he got momentarily staggered and busted up. Could Nigel Benn survive that? I'm thinking no.
