Interesting fight, for Shumenov's WBA light heavyweight title.

On the undercard is a pretty good looking super bantamweight prospect/contender, Rico Ramos, now #3 in the WBO rankings, who's taking on Cuauhtemoc Vargas.

Pretty good main event for ESPN2. Here's an event promo:

Uzelkov is undefeated, with a knockout over Gabriel Campillo, who handed Shumenov his first defeat last year.

Here's video of that sixth round knockout:

gosh damn can Campillo box. I think he is a better pure boxer than everyone's darling, Calderon. I still haven't figured out whose style is very similar to his.

Uzelkov really took advantage when he finally got through. Gotta like that.

Fearsome hitting Henry waiting in wings for winner

Congratulations to brother Uzelkov on his win.

Unfortunately, the winner of this fight has to face the Mandatory WBA Challenger next, Chris "Hurricane" Henry, and they are going to be knocked out in that one, so I hope they enjoy their short-lived victory next Friday night.

I was unimpressed with both Uzelkov and Campillo to be honest, and even less impressed with brother Shumenov.

Henry is going to clear up this mess in the near future, and once again bring the WBA Championship back where it belongs, to the United States of America.

He was given that moniker by the original Hurricane, Rubin Carter.

We are looking for sparring partners for Henry, interested?

    Burden of Courage

Oh please, person typist..So I am going to fly out to Vegas to beat the hell out of you as you typed bs concerning the number 3 ranked Light Heavyweight?

Since your typing fingers threw down the gauntlet concerning Henry, and you insulted him here without saying your issues to his face, the burden is on you to back up your typing.

How did i insult Henry in this topic, karl?

Anyhow, I'll be at the mandalay bay if you want to make good on the many threats you've made over the years. If Estadio de Smegman happens to get caved in during the process then so be it.

There's easier things to do in boxing than trying to beat a Goossen fighter at an Indian Casino in California.

    I love this matchup, btw.

Imo, this is Showtime quality or top line Shobox quality.

Uzelkov seemed like a laid back fighter against Campillo. He has to know that´he´´ll have to KO Shumenov twice to get that title, probably Brewster/Krasniqi style. I question whether that is in his nature.

Over 110 degrees in Central California....you can tell by the size crowd, there's not a lot of people anxious to be out in the sun right now.

Still a 10-9 round for Shumenov, who scores points with the judges for going down in style. Maybe that is Uzelkov´s idea to win a SD knock him down each round.

Shumenov with a knockdown at the end of the third round...straight right hand after Uzelkov finished punching.

I was just about to say, Shumenov's much busier, but he's hitting a lot of leather...not that time.

    Not that Adamek.

Uzelkov has a blinking thing going on in this fight...kinda curious.

Also has some interesting ways of getting out of punches.
