we are in agreement. but much like hatton and cotto, margarito suffered a severe ass whipping two fights ago.

Too bad it wasn't of the career ending variety.

Boxing is almost dead! :bears: The end is really truly near now! Pac and Floyd are on the way out, especially now that they're in their 30s. Bob Arum and Don King are really really old now, only a few years left for them. The stars including Tyson, Lewis, Holyfield, Jones, Trinidad, Vargas, DLH, etc are all gone. The Klitschkos are getting up their in age and won't last much longer. There are no new stars on the horizon. America has washed its hands of the sport, the next generation don't give a crap about boxing at all and never will.....simply put, the sport is on its death bed! The final nail will be driven into its coffin fairly soon. Not too long to go now! The end is very near! FightBeat members remain the last bunch of hopefuls keeping the sport alive.

I hope so Hanz,.. the only joy I could ever invoke from 'boxing' now is to have it collapse and starve all the scum riddled within. I would love to see Arum exposed in his true raw form,.. It'd be like a fat fucking flailing leech, there would be no need for 'masked speaking', his type without boxing would be well and truelly part of the organised crime industry, which is basically what boxing is anyway.

last time i checked, boxing existed prior to mayweather jr., pacquiao, king & arum were involved.

And little by little, it's been sinking and become merely an afterthought. Of course, there is always the hope of the 1 american heavyweight saviour!

    I hate this.

Especially because I think Margarito may upset Pac.

I don't think it would be an upset. Last I checked, Margarito is a pretty big dude compared to Pacquiao. Even Floyd wanted nothing to do with Margarito for years. Then again Floyd wanted nothing to do with any fighter in their primes as his resume shows.

:atu: @ Some people suddenly hyping Margarita like he's some kind of threat. Mosley cracked that chin. Pac should fight Mosley instead.

probably the best fight that Pac can make action wise. Margarito is a tough guy with a huge weight advantage, but would have liked to see him vs a worthy foe ( Cintron III maybe ) before getting such a worthy foe after the wrap fiasco.

I'd favor fights with Berto and Maidana to be more action packed while they lasted. This one should be good too though if it happens. You can picture the fight going in several different ways so there is some intrigue to it at least.

Fair enough. I want to add that a Cotto fight @154 is far from a easy fight. Cotto may not be the same fighter but is extremely strong at his new weight. Pac would be at a big size disadvantage if it ever takes place.

After seeing how the PacMan handled Cotto / Clottey he should have no problem with this version of Margarito...

What is PBFs excuse this weather - he is such a punk

Margarito doesn't fight anything like either Cotto or Clottey though. A closer comparison is Hatton: a fight he won because he could hurt Hatton with single shots that changed the course of the fight. Sans those shots that was gonna be a hard, messy, physical fight, which there's a very fair chance he'll get from Tony.

If Pac wins this he deserves allot of credit. Mosley was as stylistic disaster for TM but this is a guy with wins over Martinez, Clottey, Cintron & Cotto and he's become very underrated after what Shane pulled off against him. I think this fight sways on whether Pac can dent Margarito. If he can't it gets rough.

To be fair, the was no 'course of the fight' with Hatton. Manny hit him, he hit the deck, game over.

My biggest fear for Pac before the Cotto / Clottey was the size of the opponent. I think Pac handles Margarito with ease.

Chose to ignore 6 full minutes of fight if you chose, but there was a well established pattern to that fight: Hatton swarming and mauling Pac and not allowing him the space to play the flurry and move game he was able to against Clottey, Oscar or the 2nd half vs Cotto. Pac won because he could land pattern(/jaw) breaking single shots. If those shots had bounced off Hatton's coupon he woulda been in for a messy, physical night of being crowded and pressured.

Pac has a natural stylistic advantage over Marg but it depends on him being able to hurt him, which given the huge size disparity & Tony's chin isn't a given.

I'm not ignoring anything, my memory of that fight is Hatton sitting on his stool shocked only to get up for the next round when Pac brutally KOed him.

Before Manny defeated the guys mentioned above, I had doubts that he could carry that power to welter weight. Clearly that is not a problem and he will land and hurt Margarito. It's not as if Manny has not been pressured before.

All single shots as Hatton swarmed and crowded Pac. Pac didn't outbox anyone that night, he wasn't given the space, he slugged him out & he'll have to do the same against Margarito, because because he isn't winning a volume fire fight like Williams did, he's way too small & I don't think he'll be given the space to box from the outside against Tony any more than he was against Hatton. He needs to really give Tony something to think about with single shots to slow him down like Mosley did.

Basically Im repeating myself: Pac is cast as slugger in this fight like he was vs Hatton and the it hinges on whether Manny can hurt Tony enough with single shots to put him off & give him space.

There is no doubt about it, Margarito will be the hardest fight Pac has taken at Welter. Margarito is HUGE and has a great chin and good work rate. He's not getting KO'd like hatton and isn't going to stand there like Clottey. He's going to bring it.

If the odds are 2-1 or better I'll be betting a few notes on Tony.
