    Predators - 6 out of 10

I'm a bit conflicted about this one. It has a good premise but something is missing in the execution. Brody was better than I was expecting but his character is one of the biggest things I hate in film. I've seen him referred to as 'Mr Exposition' and it's unfortunately accurate. Anytime a discovery is made, everyone looks at him and he explains it in detail. I'm not sure why filmmakers think audiences are stupid but I think we deserve more credit.

Looks great, has lots of action and plenty of nods to the first film but something was missing. I enjoyed it but it felt unfinished and that's most likely due to them wanting to make sequels.

Not a bad film, just not a particularly good one either. Worth a watch however as the idea is interesting and could make for some good cinema.

I've not seen so many references or homages to a film outside of Flying High. It was beyond overboard. You could just about call this a re-make, so heavily reliant on copying the first one are they. I didn't like it. Brody was good, but Grace in a Predator film? No, Sir.

I agree. I thought about dropping this film to a 5 but I did enjoy it even though some parts had me shaking my head.

I'm saying this guy serves to 'spoonfeed' the audience things that don't require it and it's clumsy at times.

How is a movie with so many good actors so incredibly God awful? My brother and I didn't even make it all the way through his one, even with popcorn on our side.

Ah yes, the German 'Children of the Corn'...set pre-WWI.

    Interesting movie.

The Invention of Lying - Clever little movie from Ricky Gervais. Not exactly plausible, but a fun idea regardless. Included a pretty daring take on religion that probably went over the heads of most of the PG-13 crowd it was marketed for.

    7.5/10

    Transporter III -
A bit closer to the spirit of the 1st Transporter movie then the overblown #2. Guilty pleasure flick I guess..........it was still completely ridiculous. I probably should have changed the channel but I couldn't stop watching for some reason.

Reminded me of one of those crappy "Under Siege" sequels............the one on the train I think. Statham as usual makes a good action hero. However, quick editing cuts also remind us that almost anybody can become an action hero in today's movie landscape.

    A generous 5/10 from me.

Not IMO. I think it was just as good the first time as it was the second, third, fourth, and so on and so fourth. Now, There Will Be Blood was a movie that got better the second time around IMO.

Well, it could hardly have been worse. I could not believe how poor that movie was, relative to the hype. Terrible.

    HACHIKO A DOG'S STORY

    SCORE - 6.5/10

    GENRE - DRAMA

PREMISE - This is the story of a man (Richard Gere) who finds an Akita puppy and after some inital protests from his wife, ends up raising him as his own. I know you're probably thinking uh oh another dog movie, no chance this ends well. Well you're right, but not for the reason you're thinking. I can't tell more of the plot without spoiling it so I'll leave it at that.

CRITIQUE - The story here wasn't too bad. I thought they took too long getting past the point where his wife would eventually accept the dog and let the guy keep it. This was probably the saddest dog movie I've ever seen. Seriously, have a comedy ready as a backup and keep the tissues nearby.

INFO - This is based on a true story that happened in Japan, however I'd advise you not to look into what the story is about before watching it. It's better that the story unfold and you not know where it's going.

Happy Accident - Streamed this last night through Netflix on PS3. It's a romantic movie about a woman (Marisa Tomei) who hasn't had any luck with men (due to the ones she usually goes for having issues such as alcoholism, jesus freaks, etc) meeting a guy who is very quirky/odd, but otherwise drama free until he reveals that he is from the future.

Movie was actually pretty interesting as you're wondering whether this guy is just batshit crazy or if maybe he actually is from the future. Plus, Marisa Tomei is so ridiculously hot that you can never really go wrong with one of her movies.

I'm guilty of liking chick flicks and if you are too or if you just need a movie to watch with the gf/wife, then I'd recommend it.

Only in Hollywood do you have women who look like Marisa Tomei or Helen Hunt who have trouble finding men.

Outstanding movie. One of the best Ive seen in a long time. Leo and the whole cast for that matter are great. Being from Christopher Nolan I shouldnt have expected any less. See this movie....now.

Agreed... was an incredible movie and probably now my favorite DiCaprio film. It is kind of funny how in his last two movies (this one and Shutter Island) he played a widower.

Was never a big fan of Helen Hunt's looks, but Marisa Tomei is and always has been a bombshell in my opinion. That movie with John Cusak where she plays a stripper is very drool-worthy.

Probably one of my favorite animated movies of all time. This is a must see film, especially if you have a family or any children in the house. Even if you don't, it's worth a view because it really is that good in my opinion.

With that said, have a hard time giving an animated film higher than a 7.5.

    Inception 8 out of 10

I liked it. Between a 7 and an 8 for me but as I detest half marks I'll raise it to 8.

Clever if a bit long. I found the trailer slightly misleading but not deal breakingly so. Certainly the best film I've seen at the cinema in awhile. An interesting concept which while it can be convoluted at times, never had me wondering what the hell was happening. Leo did an impressive job again. Basically since The Departed, he's really come into his own. A genuinely excellent talent.

One bad side: I'm sure this movie is going to lead to a large number of douches carrying around a spinning top, like those clowns that went out a bought the one ring from LoTR or a marked up coin after TDK.

Aside from that, this film is highly recommended.

    Facing Ali.

An impressive take on a very tired subject matter. One of the few new works on the man worth seeing, if only because it's every bit as much about the opponents interviewed as it is about Ali himself.

Features Henry Cooper, George Foreman, George Chuvalo, Joe Frazier, Kenny Norton, Earnie Shavers, Ron Lyle, Larry Holmes & Leon Spinks.

I saw Salt last week. Above average action movie and pretty enjoyable to watch, as long as your willing to ignore the fact that its so damn unrealistic.

    The Road

Incredibly depressing post-apocolyptic movie starring Viggo Mortinson (sp) (Aragorn from LOTR). Adapted from the book of the same title. Movie never says what happened to the Earth and the ending was kind of anti-climatic. I hear that the book was equally as vague. Overall, just depressing and not very enjoyable at all.

Hmmm...it wasn't bad at all, but it was blatantly ripping off so much the original that by the end I was getting the impression Robert Rodriguez was thinking that the Arnold movie was Citizen Kane. It has some good action sequences, but like the original the dialogue is very amateurish. By the constant use of the "F'" word they tried to distract the audience from the banality of its sixth grade dialogue. Adrien Brody tried to be an Arnold-like mercenary, but to me he was unconvincing. Could had been better, but it is head and shoulders above the drek of the two "Aliens vs Predator" spin-offs. 7/10

the Sorcerer's Apprentice So the whole concept of this film was 'inspired' by the Mickey Mouse section in Fantasia? It shows: it has no magic, but it is a mouse of a film. Average, predictable, lame dialogue, bad acting, Nicolas Cage looks and acts like a paranoid homeless man. 4/10
