Good trailer... I forgot how brutal that finish vs Big Nog was....he just kept pounding him like Bruce Willis in Sin City. Come on Cain!....i think he'll do it too
I think the Big Nog finish was a bit deceptive; Nog looks really done. By contrast, Lesnar keeps a good pace going and he looks to be a stronger wrestler. The big question is whether or not Cain has the power to keep him honest.
I get what you're saying about the Nog fight, i think the Mir fight proved that, hence my lack in enthusiasm for that rematch. I've just generally been impressed with Cain, everytime i've seen him. His stand-up is certainly superior to Lesnar's which showed no signs of improvement vs Carwin and we know that if Cain gets Lesnar hurt (and i don't believe it take's Carwin's power to do that - Brock was visibly stunned by a Mir knee, i think, in the rematch, which was consequently overshadowed by his dominance in every other moment of the fight) that he's not gonna run out of steam trying to put his man away. Obviously, a lot hinges on the wrestling. Along with his NCAA skills, Lesnar's speed, and not just the power has resulted in him overwhelming opponents. I think Cain can deal with the speed, he too has the wrestling credentials, and i think he can cope with the sheer strength of Lesnar long enough for his cardio to shine through. So there is a lot of ifs and buts when it comes to the grappling BUT what i don't think is open to debate, is the difference in quality on the feet.....that all leads me to lean towards Cain.
It's funny that after the Kongo fight everyone was questioning Cain's chin and punching power. Then he drills Nog and he's suddenly his stand-up is CLEARLY superior to Brock's. It may be, but I'm not convinced. Nog was a sitting duck and that chin had been cracked so I don't put a ton of credence into that KO for Cain. Obviously with a couple of guys over 240 anything can happen standing, but I'm not convinced Cain will walk through Lesnar on their feet. Plus, regardless of Cain's wrestling pedigree which is impressive, he has to be careful standing because he absolutely doesn't want to be on his back. I can't wait. Like Lesnar-Carwin, it could go either way and will probably have a few momentum swings before it ends. Fans win either way.
Kongo certainly hurt Cain, but they were big shots, that if i remember rightly, landed clean on the button. Kongo is nothing but a striker, and a big fucking dude. So at the most, he showed that Cain hasn't got an iron-cast chin...but Cain did what he had to do when he got hurt, and recovered pretty quickly too. Brock, vs Carwin, basically gave a text-book demonstration of what NOT to do when you get buzzed. I certainly think there's a danger in looking too much into the Nog fight, but at the same time, a tight, crisp combination is still a tight, crisp combination...regardless of whether Cain could pull that off against higher opposition, it still, in my opinion, displayed better stand-up technique than we're ever likely to see anytime soon from Lesnar. I agree completely with your closing sentiments.
REED is Certainly Ready...ANYTIME Brock Lesnar Fights it's a SPECIAL Night... REED Hasn't Seen All that Much of Cain Velasquez, but REED Doubts if he Punches HARDER than Shane Carwin...& Like Carwin, Velasquez will EVENTUALLY Succumb to the AGILITY, POWER & Superior WRESTLING of Brock Lesnar... REED:mj:
agREED... VERY EARLY, Velasquez may Make Lesnar "Uncomfortable" w/Some Shots, but he'll Eventually Be IN Lesnar's GRASP, Taken Down & Dominated... REED:hammert:
that's what I was thinking too, but someone reminded me that he didn't took Couture down and Couture was smaller than Velasquez
Yep. Kongo took him down, and no he was not rocked when it happened. He did get right back up, but it just goes to show he can be taken down by a guy who is nowhere near Lesnar's level of wrestling. The difference will be Cain won't get up fom under Brock. Brock might even submit him too.
well, I poorly worded my post because I still think that Lesnar will beat Cain, I just wouldn't be shocked anymore if Velasquez managed to win
