You got the wheels greased? All fueled up? Everyone loaded? Because the Jon Jones bandwagon is gonna ROLL this weekend. Just got a new set of wheels so those babies aren't falling off anytime soon.

Man I feel bad for Matsuchenko. Lamb being led in for slaughter. :Chainsaw:

I'm a big fan of Jones but he's still young he's bound to make mistakes. The janitor got very good wrestling he just might pose some problems.

REED Knows NATHAN about Matyushenko...Is this a SHOWCASE Fight for Bones Jones or a STEP UP in Comp???...

Shouldn't be a showcase fight unless Jones is that good. Former UFC title contender.

    Jon Jones is HUGE...

REED Saw him on the Set of MMA Live & Dude DWARFED Stephan Bonnar & Rashad Evans...He Said he had to COME DOWN from 230+ for this Particular Fight & that a Move to Heavyweight Would EVENTUALLY Happen...

Hopefully He Wins the Lightheavy Title 1st...

But Isn't he More of an "Old Guard" UFC Title Contender???...REED ISN'T Trying to Diminish Matyushenko, just Wanting a CLEAR Picture of What it will Mean if Bones Beats him...

You could say that, however his ground and pound style has aged well and he's still going pretty strong, recently lost his rematch with Rogerio but otherwise has beaten most of his competition pretty cleanly...

He's still pretty useful for sure, he's got some decent wins lately and his 4 losses have come against some good fighters, with the exception of Vernon White, who may not be known well but was a pretty good fighter and this was a LONG time ago and was a SD loss. He should be good enough to test Jones a bit, I'd love to see him pull the upset though.

    WAR JANITOR!!!

I generally ignore decisions unless I've seen them, or there's a consensus on what happened. Even unanimous decisons are often robberies(Edgar-Penn, Machida-Shogun, Fedor-Arona).

Hell, in Matyushenko's last fight, he won easily, an one judge had the other guy winning. The other two had it 30-27.

I agree with Penn-Edgar and Shogun-Machida, but I've never seen Fedor-Arona and have never heard of it referred to as a robbery. Is it really?

    Yes.......Arona completely schooled Fedor...

Most people say Arona should have won, it was ruled a draw after two rounds and an overtime round was fought. Most people think Arona won the first two rounds and there should not have been an overtime period at all. If it was fought in the UFC or any org that uses the unified rules, Arona would have probably won, he controlled Fedor the whole time.

Even DREAM gives that fight to Arona......there's really no way to turn that around. You can't win a fight when you are completely neutralized. When someone has you in mount/back mount for the whole round, you pretty much aren't doing shit..

  14. Bob N Weave

    Bob N Weave Guest

Hevead neutralizing him because he wasn't trying to finish the fight. Fedor was trying submissions, that's why he won.

Tying to finish the fight isn't a requirement to win an MMA fight, or any combat sport for that matter. Hence the point system. Only a truly retarded judge would give Fedor the fight on ineffectove submission attemps(both attemps were not even close and gave Arona dominant position, aide mount and full mount respectively)

We need these type of judges in boxing, so then guys like Baldomir would be the champion of the world because they missed haymakers all night long while bring repeatedly hit with weak, scoring punches.

O wait, that isn't logical. Nevermind.

I liked Fedor against Arona. I am not a big fan of control with no attempts to submit or punish.

That being said, in the UFC, Arona wins it.

And for what it's worth, Jon Jones is one of the guys I look most forward to watching. Can't wait.

  18. *Z*

Yep, that's the thing about the fight. Fedor got controlled, but Arona really wasn't doing anything to try to finish. Fedor basically won with a couple sub attempts. They only score for damage and trying to finish under the RINGS rules. Take downs and controlling guys does not score points. Under any other rules, Fedor would have lost that fight.

I'm not so sure about that. Fedor was without his greatest tool in that fight, his lethal G&P.

  20. *Z*

How effective would that have been when he was on the bottom for the majority of the fight? When was Fedor in a position to GNP Arona in that fight? He did good standing, definitely won the exchanges there, but he was schooled in grappling by Arona.

He reversed him to get top position in the 1st for sure.
